David Roy Burton

June 20, 1935 - November 14, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Roy Burton, who passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family.

Roy was a devoted husband to his wife Shirley and a cherished father to his children Wendy (Liz), Bonny (Ron), Larry (Una), Donna, Karen (Jeff), Ken (Jean), and Linda (Brian). He was the proud grandpa of 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by his surviving brother John (Sue) and his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Bill, Walter, and Harry and sisters Jean and Carol, Roy will forever be missed by his extended family and many friends.

Roy lived a life filled with love, dedication, and passion, both for his family and his work in the roofing industry. A proud member of his AA Fellowship, Roy's humor and zest for life were evident in the countless social events, humorous antics, and memorable family gatherings he orchestrated. He was an avid hockey player in his youth and a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made in Roy's honor to the RS McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre in Oshawa.

Roy is now at peace, but his legacy of love and laughter will remain in our hearts and memories forever.

Valerie “Mary” Schuster

February 8, 1943 – November 8, 2024

Valerie “Mary” Schuster, born on February 8, 1943, to Thomas and Florence Anne McGeever in Ilford, England, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, at Sunnybrook Hospital. Mary, a beloved nurse and friend, came to Canada in 1969, where she worked at Central and Wellesley Hospitals in Toronto and established a life filled with joy and adventure.

Mary was an avid world traveler, a devoted cook who loved entertaining friends, and a loving cat mom to her cherished feline companions over the years. She had a passion for genealogy and was delighted to reconnect with family in the UK, which brought her tremendous joy. Mary will be dearly missed by her goddaughter, Sally Peck, her family, and her many friends from all walks of life, including her nursing colleagues and bridge group. Her love for travel, birding, and life’s simple pleasures will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Teresa Petrella and her team at the Odette Cancer Centre, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, for their compassionate care of Mary during her illness.

In accordance with Mary’s wishes, there will be no formal service.

Antonietta Busuttil

1937 – November 13, 2024

It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Antonietta Busuttil, who passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, at the age of 87 years.

Antonietta was born in Andora, Italy in 1937 and, at age nine, voyaged to Venezuela with her family, spending ten formative years there. At age 19, she returned to Europe to work and travel, eventually meeting her husband, Victor, while studying in England. In 1964, she immigrated to Canada, where she continued her love of travel, staying connected with family and friends worldwide.

She worked in electronics assembly while raising her children in Bramalea, later moving to vibrant downtown Toronto. Known for her culinary talents, Antonietta learned to cook from her father, an international chef. Her greatest joy was simply being with people, helping others, and fostering connections with warmth and kindness.

Antonietta's resilience saw her through multiple battles with breast cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia. Despite her health struggles, she remained strong and caring until the end. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Victor, daughters Linda (Ralph) and Christine, grandchildren Sierra, Isaac, Ryan, Elena, and Naomi, her sister Mirella (Fausto), and numerous friends and relatives touched by her selfless spirit.

The family extends special thanks to the dedicated staff at St. Michael's Hospital Palliative Unit and Kensington Hospice for their compassionate care of Antonietta.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Antonietta’s memory can be made to Parkinson Canada or the Kensington Health Foundation.

A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

John Beverly Butchart (Butch)

January 1, 1931 – November 10, 2024

After a very full life shared with family, friends, and many years of love, laughter, and happiness, we are saddened to announce the passing of our much-loved father, brother, uncle, and friend to many, John Beverly Butchart, known fondly as "Butch."

Butch brightened the room wherever he went. He was an avid reader, loved doing the daily crosswords, enjoyed painting, and was known for creating cartoons for all occasions. With a love for a cold beer and his signature "Puff Dady" license plates, Butch was easily recognized by his fedora and preference for a good Cuban cigar.

He will be lovingly missed by his daughter Caroline, sister Barbara, and extended family and friends.

In lieu of a formal funeral service, a celebration of Butch's life will be held at the Whitby Legion. Date and times to be confirmed.

Kevin Ferguson

November 10, 1959 - November 10, 2024

The family of Kevin Ferguson is saddened to announce his passing on Saturday, November 10, 2024. Kevin passed away peacefully at the age of 65.

Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 39 years, Sandra; his children April and Robert (Wes); and his grandchildren, Cailynn and Izaiah. He is survived by his three brothers, Craig, Mike (Deb), and Steve, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Kevin is predeceased by his parents, Jan and Gord Brown (stepfather) and Robert Ferguson (father).

Kevin will be cremated, and as per his wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honour to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation or to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Michael Bruce Hagstrom

On November 6, 2024, after fighting so hard, Michael passed away peacefully. He will be remembered for his big smile, always lending a helping hand, and his love for his partner, Ellie, and their cherished furbabies.

Michael's kindness and unwavering support touched the lives of many, and he will be missed dearly by family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where loved ones can gather to honor and remember Michael’s warmth and generosity.

Karen Cherry

With great sadness, Karen’s family announces her passing on November 7th at Oshawa General Hospital after a valiant fight.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Samantha (Dan), Bradon (Deanne), and Dylan, her grandchildren, Maeve and Porter, her mother, Patricia, her brother, Steven, and nieces Kayleigh and Sydney, along with many other aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and beloved friends. She was predeceased by her father, Mel.

Those who knew Karen knew she loved being surrounded by her family and friends, enjoying a good meal and reminiscing on great memories. She was full of joy and loved to make others smile.

Always a creative spirit, Karen was passionate about creating elegant scrapbooks and handmade cards for everyone she loved. Her albums will be greatly cherished by everyone in her life.

A private burial will be held, followed by a joyous celebration of life at a later date.

Paul Roland Moyser

- October 31, 2024

It is with great sadness that Paul Moyser‘s family announces his passing on October 31, 2024, at the age of 52. Paul will be forever missed by his brother, Kevin Moyser (Christine Inglis), his sister, Kathleen McDonell (Kevin McDonell), his nephews Carter and Brendan, and his niece Paige. Predeceased by his mother, Mary Teresa.

Paul had a big heart and loved animals, especially his dog Molly. He enjoyed the wilderness and was looking forward to setting up his yurt. Paul was mechanically inclined, with a natural talent for repairing combustion engines. He applied his self-taught skills to various occupations throughout his life. Paul was also artistic, with a unique sense of design, and his compassion for others, especially those in need, will be remembered by many. He truly lived in the moment.

Kenneth Elwyn "Ken" Corrigan (KC)

21-Jan-1929 – 30-Oct-2024

Kenneth Elwyn Corrigan, lovingly known as Ken or “KC,” passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on October 30, 2024. Born on January 21, 1929, Ken lived a life devoted to family, faith, and community, sharing 66 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Margaret (Badley), whom he married on September 13, 1959.

Ken is deeply missed by his wife Margaret; his children Karen (Duane) Judd and David (Clare) Corrigan; and his five grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah), Ryan (Teagan) Judd, James, Jessica, and Josh Corrigan. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Hannah (Judd). Ken is predeceased by his siblings Delorus Ross, Norma Hoy, and Jim Corrigan.

A dedicated worker, Ken spent years with Alger Press and later with General Motors. His lifelong commitment to the Salvation Army was a cornerstone of his life. As a longstanding member of the Oshawa Salvation Army Church, he contributed his musical talents as a band member and served on various committees, embodying values of service and faith.

Ken had a zest for life and a love of travel, enjoying many memorable trips with his family, including Harbourfront adventures with his son Dave and visits to Switzerland to see Karen and her family. An avid sports enthusiast, Ken loved both participating in and watching sports. In his youth, he played baseball and hockey, later dedicating years to coaching baseball with Woodview Park.

A visitation for family and friends will take place in the Fellowship Room of the Oshawa Salvation Army Church on November 30, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.

Ken will be remembered for his warmth, his unwavering faith, and his enduring love for family and community.
