Peacefully passed away on January 10, 2025, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, in her 90th year, with her daughters by her side.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Robert Douglas Newlands, and by her son James Duncan Newlands. Loving mother of Christine Newlands, Jennifer Newlands-Ritchie (Blake), and Robert Gordon Newlands. Cherished grandmother and great-grandmother of many grandchildren. Beverley will be missed by her sister Donalda Abbot (Bob) and her family.
Beverley was involved with her community by volunteering as a Cub Scout Leader/Akela for numerous years and by fostering many children.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 1-2 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa).

Janvier will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Janvier had a lovely voice and loved to sing and play her guitar. “Never stop singing.”

Henry was an avid golfer, loved bowling, and enjoyed spending his spare time at the Legion, Branch #43. He retired from General Motors after many years of service.

Predeceased by her husband Mike Diamond. Much-loved Mom of Michelle DeGeer and her husband Rod, and Lee Diamond and his wife Lana. Adored Nana to Quinn, Carmen, and Gunner. Dear sister of June Maughan (the late Leonard). Survived by brother-in-law Pat Diamond (Rose). Predeceased by her brother-in-law Bill Diamond, brother-in-law Hugh Diamond and his wife Lee-Anne, and sister-in-law Denise Diamond. Judy will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
A celebration of life will be held at the Port Perry Legion on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

We are saddened to announce the passing of John Minko, who peacefully departed this life on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the age of 79, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
John was born in Rybny, Poland in 1946. He is predeceased by his mother Rosalia Rusyn, his father Piotr Minko, his stepfather Jurko Rusyn, and his sister Maria Rechanicz (Michael).
He leaves behind his nieces Genia Wilson (the late Tim) and Jerry Salomone (Vic), and his nephews Bob Rechanicz (Wendy) and John Rechanicz (Connie) and their families.
John spent his later years at Hillsdale Estates Long Term Care Home, where he formed bonds with the staff and fellow residents. John valued freedom, resilience, and living life on one’s own terms. His kindness and free spirit will forever be remembered by his family and friends.
Rest in peace, John. May your journey continue in the great beyond.

Phillip Norman Everson, passed away comfortably and peacefully on January 1, 2025, in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. He was surrounded by the love of his family, near and far.
Beloved father to his children Kelly Everson, Shane Everson, and Kevin Everson. Predeceased by Shawna Everson. Brother of Kris Jackson and Phyllis List, and predeceased by Debbie Hodges. Phillip will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Phillip was a strong, quiet man who had a deep love for computer sciences and technology. He often spent his free time researching various topics of interest. Known for his humor, Phillip brought joy to those close to him. He had a passion for music and art, and at one time, he was an avid painter. He frequently shared his knowledge with family and friends.

After a courageous 10-year battle with Cancer, Jane (53) passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, surrounded by her family and friends.
Jane leaves behind her beloved wife Anji of 17 years. Dear mother of Dunai, Acacia, and Ethan. Loved GiGi of Mikey. Dear sister of Jim (Kim) and aunt of Lynda (Dane). Lovingly remembered by her mother-in-law Julie and sister-in-law Cathie (Stelios). Sadly missed by her “Nona” Marika, cousin Diane, family in New York and Scotland, and cherished friends Amanda and Erica.
Jane had a huge love for plants, traveling, adventures, and spending time with her large circle of friends and family. She had a dynamic personality, a zest for life, and a smile that could light up a room. Her eyes would glisten from afar, and her real lashes could catch anyone’s attention. Jane saw opportunities to improve lives and was determined to make a difference for others. After her Cancer diagnosis, she became a Champion for the Durham Region Cancer Centre (DRCC) at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and founded the “Better Clinic” to support patients and families throughout their Cancer Journey.
Jane served on the Patient Advisory Committee at LHO and volunteered in the Palliative Care Unit. She and Anji were leaders in fundraising for the Lakeridge Health Foundation, helping to raise over $24 million for the “THIS IS OUR CANCER” campaign in 2023. Jane also led the establishment of a Genealogical Cancer Surgical Unit at LHO for local care. As a strong advocate for the LGBTQ community, Jane was a founding member of “Pride Prom,” ensuring local students had a safe prom experience, and served as a proud local PFLAG Chapter Leader alongside Anji.
The family would like to sincerely thank the outstanding medical support provided by Dr. Li and her nurses Paulette and Amanda, Dr. Niglis, Dr. Go, and their teams at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Special thanks also go to Dr. Dhani, Dr. Mak, and their team at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The family deeply appreciates Garrett Metcalfe for his dedicated support over the years.

James (Jim) Arthur Sanders passed away, with family by his side, on December 28, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, after a lengthy battle with various health issues.
Beloved father of Darin Sanders (Rachel), Jason Sanders (Samantha), and Kim Koolhaas (Mike). Cherished grandfather of Stephen, Daniel, Rebecca, Skyler, Harley, Isaac, and Adalynn. Dear brother of Tom Sanders (Susan) and the late Maureen Kolodzinski (Mitchell). James will be lovingly remembered by many family and friends.
Jim spent the majority of his career in construction. He started his own construction company, Sanco Builders in Oshawa, where he specialized in custom home and enclave community construction. He also pursued real estate, eventually becoming a Real Estate Agent.
For the last 15 years, Jim enjoyed living on his boat in Whitby, Picton, and other local area marinas.
As per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Durham Region Cancer Centre or Lakeridge Health Foundation.

Larry’s happiest moments were spent at his cottage, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the company of his friends and family. Always quoting his father's words: “Ain’t this the life.” It was there, in those quiet moments of joy and laughter, that he truly felt at home.

Peacefully, encircled by her daughters, Heather Diane Knapp passed on December 27th, 2024 at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Bobcaygeon.
At the age of 79, she returned home to reunite with her husband Jack Orvel Knapp (2006) of 38 years, her daughter Cathy Gloria Knapp (1971) and son Jason Knapp (2020) (Angel).
Forever remembered by her daughter Michelle Diane Knapp, granddaughter Kayla Violet Coursolle and grandsons Jacob Jack Knapp and Noah Jae Knapp.
Born to the late Ola Bertha Zinck nee Mersey and Teeman Lawson Zinck. Sister to Raeburn Zinck (Marilyn), the late Bonnie Parsons (Bob), and the late Margaret Moore ( the late Ray).
Remembered and cherished by many nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
A lifetime of friendship to Cathy Galloway, Eleanor Thiesson and Gloria Moore...a lifetime of love and memories.
Heather enjoyed the cottage on Sturgeon Lake with family and neighbours and later the motor home and all the trips and adventures with Jack and family and friends. She loved dancing with her husband and tap dancing as a child.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, baking, attending church and spoiling her beloved dog, Julie.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude and appreciation to the Keswick Day Program that Heather attended for many years as well as the many PSWs, Marilyn and Caroline Prada. Also, to all at Pinecrest Nursing Home…with heartfelt appreciation to Angel Knapp and all her family and friends who made life at home possible for Heather.
May she return now to her Father in Heaven and always remembered to those in earth.
