MacLEAN, Audrey MacLean - Surrounded by her family on Saturday July 6th, 2024 Audrey Campbell MacLean passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Predeceased by her loving husband Neill MacLean. Loving daughter of the late Andrew and Cecilia Aitken and dear sister of the late Irene McDonald.
Loving mother to Robert Drew MacLean (Julie) and James Gregory MacLean (Kim), proud grandmother to
Joshua, Cecilia, Miranda, Charlotte, Caitlin and great-grandmother to Elise, Liam and Olivia.
Audrey was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1934 and came to Canada during the Second World
War with her family. Audrey lived a very successful life surrounded by her loving family and
cherished friends.
Audrey attended the Glasgow School of Fine Art, The Nova Scotia College of Art and Dalhousie University.
She was the former Executive Director at the Oshawa Senior Citizens Centre and the Alzheimer Society of Durham. She was elected the Durham Board of Education for three successive terms including the office of Chairman of the board.
As a freelance writer she wrote extensively about the development of the arts and artists working in
the community including several years as an art critic to the former Oshawa Times.
She was a dedicated community volunteer and served as a Charter board member of Denise House, Durham Shoestring Performers and the Oshawa Art Association and as Chairman Durham M.S.
Society and as director of VON, Grandview Children's Centre, The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Whitby Arts Station Gallery and the Oshawa Public Library. Audrey won the awards for community service as Oshawa Jaycees Outstanding Young Canadian for her work with the elderly and the YMCA Women of Distinction in the workplace and recipient of the 125th Queens commemorative medal.
Throughout her adult life she continued to paint and exhibit extensively and established Oshawa's first private gallery dedicated to showing the work of Durham artists. For several years she served as Director of The Lindsay Gallery.
She retired in 1999 to focus on her painting full time.
Ten years later she was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and became an active advocate for individuals living with the movement disorder.
She adjusted her lifestyle by downsizing her studio to accommodate her ability to paint. There will be a small service in Prince Edward Island along with her late husband Neill MacLean.

Passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Fairview Lodge, at the age of 80.
Loving husband of Sheila for over 58 years.
Cherished father of the late Sandra (1975), Darren (Krista), Rod (Patricia), Ryan (Lisa), Sally (John), and Marcy Joyce (Jay).
Devoted grandfather of Morgan, Madison, Emily, Kailyn, Braydon, Rylee, William, Jessica, Tegan, and Dylan. Predeceased by his brothers William, Jack, and Darryl.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 12-2 p.m. at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King St. E., Oshawa).

HASS, Ruth Hass - With broken hearts the family of Ruth Haas sadly announce her passing on Sat. July 6, 2024. Ruth Babette Haas (nee Rehberger) was born on April 22, 1934, in Pfaffengrund, Germany. Ruth was the beloved wife of Hans for 71 years and the two were inseparable until her last breath.
Ruth was the loving mother to Edeltraud (deceased 1982), Heidi (deceased 2022), Ilona, Hans, Michael and Kristina.
Much loved mother-in-law to Chester, Antonella, Kerri and Peter. Precious Oma to Jason, Simone, Katrina, Austin, Lukas, Daniel, Thomas, Arianna and great Oma to Georgia, Daisie May and Sophie.
Ruth will forever be loved and cherished by her sister-in-law Gretel and her many nieces and nephews.
Ruth and Hans were married in Germany and moved to Canada in 1956 with their eldest daughter. They settled in Oshawa in 1972 and raised their large family.
Ruth was a truly exceptional cook and was famous for her cheesecake, applecake, potato pancakes, rolladen and dumplings and of course her German coffee. Ruth and Hans loved to entertain family and friends at their home. Consider yourself privileged to have sat at her dinner table.
Those in the Oshawa community knew Ruth for her fiery spirit and kindness. Ruth leaves a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and zest for life. We will never forget her warm smile, big heart and sparkling blue eyes.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all.
Ruth’s family will meet friends at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME located at 124 King St. E. Oshawa, ON L1H 1B6 on Tues. July 9th from 2:00 p.m – 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

McKENDRICK, Helen Joyce
Helen Joyce McKendrick peacefully passed away on July 3, 2024, at Moira Place Long Term Care at the age of 97. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bradley. Helen is survived by her cherished children: Kathleen Hyland (Bob), Tracey Edwards (Peter), Jeffrey McKendrick (Ratipa), and James Matthew McKendrick. She was a loving grandmother to Kelly Leeder (Jonathon), Heather Hyland, Sarah Stapley (Mathew), Adam Stapley, Allen McKendrick (Georgia), Andrew McKendrick, Eric McKendrick, and Mitchell McKendrick, and a great-grandmother to Harry, Isla, Elvie, Ellie, and Bradley.
Helen was born in Kirkland Lake and raised in Toronto. She met and married the love of her life, Bradley, and together they raised four children.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa). A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 12 p.m.

Peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, three days shy of his 79th birthday.
Survived by Lady Lurline, his beloved wife of 60 years. Loving father of Martin Jr. (Stephanie), Robert ‘Bob’ (Penny), and John (Karen). Cherished Grandfather of Michael, C.J., Emily, Joey, Chris, and Alex and great-grandfather of Gabriel and Marti. Predeceased by his parents William & Emilienne. Martin will be sadly missed by his Brother-in Law and Best Friend, Dave (Novy) Mallais, His Nephews, Rob and Charlie(Alina), and His Niece, Mandy (Rui).
He will also be greatly missed by Brothers Jimmy (Iona) Kelly, Edward (Marilyn) Kelly and Sister Shirley (Joel) Ouellet.
Marty was a staunch believer in volunteerism. He served the Church, both St. Philip the Apostle and Holy Cross, in several capacities including his work with the Knights of Columbus, but also in other capacities by serving as Eucharistic minister, Lector and Usher as well as Chairing the Financial Committee’s and other various Parish Groups.
He was also very proud of his affiliation with the Christopher Leadership Course, where he acted as an instructor for a number of years and gained a great many Friendships.
In December of 2022 he was awarded a Platinum Jubilee Award for his “exceptional commitment to improving the lives of his neighbors and strengthening the community through voluntary service.”
Marty was the founder of Dependable Marking Systems Ltd. and successfully ran the business until recently, handing it over to the next generations to carry forward.
He enjoyed spending his spare time playing his guitar, singing, and golfing but he will be best remembered for his outgoing personality and sense of humor.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME (124 King St. E., Oshawa). A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Rev. Keith Callaghan officiating. Private urn interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

GREEN, Elizabeth Jean ‘Betty’ Green - Passed away on June 27, 2024 at her home, at the age of 90, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Dear sister of Leonard Seeley of New York, Barbara Berg of New York, and Stanley (Dee) Seeley of Texas. Betty will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Betty retired from the Durham District School Board, after many years of service.
She was an avid blood donor and volunteer for the donor clinics. Her true love was to watch figure skating.
She became a figure skating judge and enjoyed travelling many places to watch the World Figure Skating Championships.

PHILLIPS, Aldith Mary (nee Benjamin) Phillips - Passed away on June 23, 2024 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 91.
Beloved mother of Wilma ‘Dale’ Drakes (George), Joy Wilson (Hymers), Whitson Benjamin (Hazelene), and Francine Phillips. Cherished grandmother of G. Hudson (Daisy), Alandre (Elizabeth), Benjamin (Girlie), Hermione, Hannah, Hymers III (Miranda), Hamesa, Sabrina (Paul), LaToya (Christon), and Joe (Nadia) and great-grandmother of Michelle Rose, Gabriel Hudson, Isabella, Dejohn, Keanna, Devonte, and Cailyn.
Survived by her siblings Florence, Beryl, John, and Rose. Aldith will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, especially Reginald and Keeva.
Aldith was an active member of her community, who made friends with everyone and was loved by many. She immigrated to Canada on her own in 1964 and created a wonderful life. Her strong and courageous personality will be remembered by everyone whose life she touched.

Passed away peacefully on Sunday June 23, 2024 at Oak Ridges Hospice, Port Perry.
Arnold in his 91st year was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years Velma, in 2021.
Dear father of the late Wanda Wyman and father-in-law of Dave.
Cherished and caring grandfather of Christopher and Joshua (Hailey) and great grandfather of Vera.
Survived by his sister Trudy Tully (Russ) and brother Walter (Beatrice).
Arnold came to Canada from Germany, on his own at the age of 17. After growing up and working in Shawville Quebec, Arnold met and married Velma. Velma and Arnold moved to Sudbury, where they lived for over 45 years and Arnold worked in the mines for 40years. In their later years they moved to Oshawa and lived close to their daughter “Wandy” and her family.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Port Perry Villa for their very special care and the team at Oak Ridges Hospice, in Port Perry for their comfort and compassion.
Resting at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME in Oshawa, 124 King Street East. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday June 29th at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Thornton Cemetery Oshawa.
