It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joan Maryann Hubbard, on January 14, 2025, in her 86th year, peacefully at home. Predeceased by her loving daughter Cindy and her grandson Jesse.
Retired for many years from W.L. Smith & Associates, Joan enjoyed her retirement spending time with her beloved spouse John, traveling to visit extended family on the east coast and in Australia, and cherishing moments with her children and grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her loving spouse of 53 years, John. She was a much-loved mother of Michael (Sue), Kelly (Ivan), and stepmother to Terry (Sandi) and Bruce (Judy). Joan was also a cherished mother-in-law to Rob and a devoted sister to Joe (Patricia). She will be fondly remembered by her nieces Joanne, Karen, Joannie, and the late Linda.
Joan will be deeply missed by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Melissa, Justin (Christie), Jaime, Hailey (Aaron), Sabrina, Taylor, Aiden, Connor, Tyson, Jace, Halle, Harlow, Hudson, and many more. She will also be missed by many dear friends, including her close friend Mary of many years.
A Celebration of Life with refreshments will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

It is with great sadness that the family of David “Yaya” George Finley announce his passing on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the age of 70.
David was born in Sonya, Ontario. He was a retiree of Chrysler Canada, Ajax Plant.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mavis Finley. He is the much-loved stepfather of Sharon England (Ron) and Victoria Catton (Richard). Cherished grandfather of Chantal, Michelle, Jenna, and Hunter. Beloved great-grandfather of Matthew, Xena, Emberly, Piper, and Kinsley.
David is lovingly remembered by his siblings John, Joy, Nancy, Bonnie, Larry, and Judy.
A faithful friend of Bill W., David achieved over 25 years of continuous sobriety, one day at a time, through the support of his AA family, sponsors, and the 12-step program. He deeply loved his AA community and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa). A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel.

Beloved husband of Glennis. Loving father of Robert and the late Tracy. Dear brother of Joyce and John of Scotland. Thomas was part of the active service with the British Army, King’s Own Scottish Borderers Regiment (KOSB). He was also a past member of the Oshawa Racing Pigeon Club.
Thomas was known for being a kind man. He and a friend started Disabled Workers of Ontario, to help represent those in need of assistance.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Elias “Brendan” Maloney at his home on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in his 88th year.
Beloved husband of 49 years to Aileen (nee Ulrich). Loving father of Elaine, Mary, Brian (Allana) and Ian (Amara). Devoted Poppy to Connor, Cole, Blake and Molly. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Gregory and Mary Ellen, his brothers Steven (Edwina) and Brendan (twin to Bernadette) and his sisters Bernadette (Joe), Gertrude (David), Geraldine, Rosalie (Eric), Patsy and Irene. He is survived by his sister Madeline and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Sweet Bay, Bonavista Bay Newfoundland, Brendan served for six years in the Canadian Armed Forces earning several peacekeeping medals. His travels took him to countries as varied as the African Congo and Greenland. A steamfitter by trade, he was a member of UA Local 46.
Brendan was a strong, quiet man who lived selflessly in the service of others, and whose family was the centre of his world. He had a love of learning and would often be found listening to the radio or working outdoors. He loved animals and in retirement was devoted to taking care of the birds and squirrels who frequented his yard.
In keeping with his wishes, a private mass with his immediate family was held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church in Oshawa. Cremation and interment at Resurrection Cemetery to follow.

Dear sister of June Maughan (the late Leonard). Survived by brother-in-law Pat Diamond (Rose). Predeceased by her brother-in-law Bill Diamond, brother-in-law Hugh Diamond and his wife Lee-Anne, and sister-in-law Denise Diamond. Judy will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
A celebration of life will be held at the Port Perry Legion on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

We are saddened to announce the passing of John Minko, who peacefully departed this life on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the age of 79, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
John was born in Rybny, Poland in 1946. He is predeceased by his mother Rosalia Rusyn, his father Piotr Minko, his stepfather Jurko Rusyn, and his sister Maria Rechanicz (Michael).
He leaves behind his nieces Genia Wilson (the late Tim) and Jerry Salomone (Vic), and his nephews Bob Rechanicz (Wendy) and John Rechanicz (Connie) and their families.
John spent his later years at Hillsdale Estates Long Term Care Home, where he formed bonds with the staff and fellow residents. John valued freedom, resilience, and living life on one’s own terms. His kindness and free spirit will forever be remembered by his family and friends.
Rest in peace, John. May your journey continue in the great beyond.
