Passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Ken leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Germaine Wilkes. Dear father of Jeannie, Jeff (Ashley), James (Denise), and Tyler, and stepfather to Jason, Michelle, and Sherry. Ken is lovingly remembered by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters Jan, Judy, Heather, and Isabella.
Ken enjoyed his daily scooter rides around the neighborhood and loved his routine of shopping for groceries every day—his cupboards were always well stocked. A very social person, Ken was known for his friendly conversations with everyone he met. He also enjoyed playing bingo with his group and volunteered actively on the Board at his residence.
A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Beck, Erika
Passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2024, surrounded by her family.
Beloved wife of Gerhard, having celebrated over 68 years of marriage. Loving mother of Sabine Harasowsky (Orest) and Susan Strackholder (Dean Nixon). Adored Oma of Andrew (Lara Sovulj), Anika, Adrian, and the late Marcus. Predeceased by her sister Gisela. Lovingly remembered by family & friends in Germany.
Erika and Gerhard immigrated to Canada on September 20, 1961, after a 10-day transatlantic voyage on a Greek ship. They travelled to Toronto by train and settled there to begin their life in Canada with their young daughter, Sabine. Erika began working as a seamstress at the CNIB, later taking on kitchen work at East-York Hospital, and eventually becoming a key punch operator at OHIP for many years. Their life together included moves to Alberta and Germany before finally resettling in Toronto. Erika and Gerhard enjoyed many vacations in their motorhome. Erika found joy in needlework, knitting, crochet, sewing, cooking, and solving crosswords and puzzles. Above all, she cherished time with her family and was a very proud Oma.
A Celebration of Life will be held when the family is able to gather together. Cremation has taken place.

Jozefa Krasinski peacefully passed away with her daughter by her side on October 31, 2024, at the age of 94.
Predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Edmund. Cherished mother of Regina Elliott and her husband Stephen, and the late Halina Skirrow and her husband Walter. Adored Babcia of Andrew, Matthew, Kathryn, and Stephanie, and proud Prababcia of Ozzy and Wells. Predeceased by her siblings in Poland: Stanislaw Gorczynski, Maksmylian Gorczynski, and Danuta Bunka. Lovingly remembered by her family in Poland.
Jozefa immigrated to Canada in 1959 but always missed her beloved Poland and the family and friends she left behind. She was devoted to her faith, the Catholic Church, and the Polish community in Oshawa. Jozefa loved to sing and was a dedicated choir member at St. Hedwig’s Church, as well as an active member of the church’s Rosary Society. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who took pride in her family, loved cooking, and spent countless hours tending to her beautiful perennial garden.
Please join with the family at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Wednesday, November 6, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for visitation. Parish Prayers will be held at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Hedwig’s Polish Catholic Church on Thursday, November 7, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

Carole Ann Kelly passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 76.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Patrick. Cherished mother of Renee, Duane (Tina), and Dawn (Corey). Loving grandmother of Shawna, Dylan, Megan, Amber, and Alisha, and great-grandmother of Grayson and Amelia. Dear sister of Joan (Harold), George (Jean), Beryl (Tom), Donny (Sheila), and the late Beverly.
Carole was born in Trinity, Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland, where she and Patrick raised their family. In 2001, they moved to Oshawa. Carole and Patrick were inseparable; where you saw one, you saw the other.
As per her wishes, cremation will take place. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Durham Region.

Born in Switzerland, Betty Lustenberger (née Bartholdi) spent most of her life in Canada. She and her husband Joe raised three amazing children, enjoyed playing tennis, gardening, and skiing at the Oshawa Ski Club. Betty was a devout Catholic and maintained her faith throughout her life.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Betty passed away quietly this past Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Passed away peacefully on October 29, 2024, surrounded by his family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Duncan faced a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Beloved husband of Rhonda for 34 years. Loving father of Kaylea (Kurtis), Bryce, Madisson, Aleisha, and Sydney. Adored Poppy of Karter, Kinsley, Kade, and Sutton. Duncan will be deeply missed by Alicia Marshall.
Predeceased by his parents, Donald and Theresa, and siblings Don and Doreen. Cherished uncle of Donny, Nicole, and Allison. Lovingly remembered by many family members and friends.
Duncan proudly retired from Hillsdale Manor & Estates after more than 25 years of dedicated service. Known for his love of fishing, he found joy in simple pleasures like watching TV, Tim Hortons double doubles, ice cream, and chats with Google's Alexa. Known for his quick wit, dark humor, and prankster spirit, he brought joy and laughter to every conversation.
Above all, Duncan adored his family and delighted in spending time with them, especially with his beloved grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He was proud of his children and loved sharing stories about them. Duncan’s presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at a later date, and cremation has been arranged.

Peacefully passed away at Extendicare Oshawa on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 95.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Gord Tipton and her daughter Elaine Turner.
Loving mother of Valarie and her husband Chris Laforge. Cherished grandmother of Gordon Turner, Geoff Laforge (Erin Kauffman), and Patrick Laforge. Predeceased by her sisters Clara and Dorothy.

It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Martie Johnson at the age of 91 on October 26, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.
Born on January 24, 1933, in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, Martie was the eldest of five children to Blake and Annie Franklin. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Blake Johnson (Roberta), Sandra Clarke (Paul), and Jim Purvis. Cherished grandma to Jamie-Lee Johnson (A.J.), Wesley Johnson (Kimberly), Courtney Toner (Nicole), Hailey Toner, Trevor (Rachel), Caitlin, and Zoe (Garth), and proud great-grandma of Casey, Brady, Austin, Hadley, Grayson, and Charlie. Martie is survived by her sister Joan Pogue, and predeceased by her siblings Winston Franklin, Duffy Franklin, and Alice McClenaghan. She also leaves behind her nephew Lorne McClenaghan and many extended family members, along with her dear friend Molly Lochan, who spoke with her each evening.
Martie loved to spend time outdoors, enjoying the sun and the company of others. She delighted in picnics, holiday trips, and strolls along Yonge Street in Uptown Toronto, where she developed close friendships with local merchants. Social by nature, Martie treasured gatherings with family and friends, making connections easily wherever she went.
Her final years were spent at Extendicare Oshawa, where she made many friends and received compassionate care. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their kindness and support.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel. In Martie’s memory, donations to a charity of your choice are appreciated.

Helen Olga Slaunwhite (nee Sikorski) left us peacefully on October 24, 2024, in her 88th year, with family lovingly by her side. Daughter of the late Nettie and Micheal Sikorski, Helen was the beloved wife of the late Ronald Slaunwhite.
She was a devoted mother to Wendy (Adam), Douglas (Kittima), Janet (Lindsay), and was predeceased by her son, Micheal. Helen was a proud and loving Nanny to her grandchildren George, Wesley, Haleena, and Tim. She will also be fondly remembered for her deep affection for her "fur family" of cherished pets, who brought her joy and comfort.

Lynda Ludmila Smyth (Sydorenko)
August 5, 1940 - October 20, 2024
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa. Loving mom of Cathy and Sandy. Proud baba of Sarah and Laura.
Lynda was born in Ukraine and spent her entire adult life in Oshawa. She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s and St. John’s Orthodox Churches and participated in multiple Ukrainian choirs, in addition to teaching at Ukrainian school. Lynda treasured memories of her travels with family and friends.
Cathy would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hillsdale Estates for their exceptional care and for creating a warm and loving home.
Memorial donations are appreciated to the CanadaHelps organization, supporting Ukraine’s pursuit of freedom.
