Lola Hobbs Sararas

1936 - December 2, 2024

Lola Marie Hobbs (nee Sararas), retired RNA, passed away peacefully at Smiths Falls Hospital on December 2, 2024, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of Garnet for 60 years, Lola was the dear mother of Karen Lavoie (Yves) of Smiths Falls, Ruth Sutcliffe (Ryan) of Orono, and Mark Hobbs (Morag) of Orono. She was a loving grandmother to Sarah Yates (Travis), Danielle Hobbs, Adam Hobbs, and Christina Sutcliffe, and cherished great-grandmother to Kaelyn Dempsey-Yates, Hannah, and Elliott.

Lola is fondly remembered by her siblings, the late Carman Sararas (Marilyn), Robert Sararas (Barbara), and the late Randy Sararas, as well as by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends in Nanticoke, Bancroft, and Madoc. Preceded by her parents, Lola was a skilled cook, avid gardener, and an enthusiastic camper, traveling coast to coast in Canada and the USA.

Lola proudly served as Past District Director of Eastern Ontario and Quebec for the Canadian Coast to Coast Calorie Counters. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a small family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Sharon King Davis

April 28, 1952 - December 2, 2024

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sharon Elaine King (Davis) on December 2, 2024, in Peterborough, Ontario. Born in Toronto on April 28, 1952, Sharon was a beloved sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend. Known for her unwavering support and guidance, she embraced her role as matriarch to her family and friends.

Sharon was predeceased by her husband, David (2014), her father, Bill (2017), and her mother, Shirley (2023). She is survived by her brother, Gary (Sue), and sister, Lynn (Michael). Sharon will also be dearly missed by her nieces, Angela (Andrew), Michelle (Matt), Leanne (Jesse), and Theresa (Mark); nephews, Dan (Erin) and Terry (Mary); great-nieces, River, Raine, and Cameron; and great-nephew, Rory.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 15, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Bancroft Curling Club, 63 Newkirk Blvd, Bancroft, ON, K0L 1C0. In lieu of flowers, donations to your local food bank would be appreciated.

Ann Merryweather McMann

1961 - December 3, 2024

Ann Merryweather McMann passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the age of 63. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Doug, and her parents, Mary and Vertel. Ann was the loving mother of the late Chris (Lynn Evans) and Mike (Reannan), and a cherished grandmother to Devenna, McKenna, Cole, Paisley, and Chase.

Ann will be fondly remembered by her brother Robert (Judy) and by Callie. She was also predeceased by her brother Edward McMahon. Ann was deeply loved and will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

A service to celebrate Ann's life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Rd., Peterborough, at 3:00 p.m., with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the service time.

Jeffrey Hunt, aged 69, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024. Born in Peterborough and raised in Buckhorn, Jeff was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family and many friends. He spent 35 years working at General Motors before enjoying his retirement pursuing his passions, which included riding his Harley, motorcycle building, hunting, boating, and fishing.

Jeff was predeceased by his father Herbert Hunt, mother Shirley Trumble, and brothers Kenneth and Joseph Hunt. He is survived by his son Malcolme Hunt (spouse Christie Rowe), daughter Crystal Hunt (spouse Joe Baker), sister Cindy Fuderer (spouse Peter Fuderer), and his loving partner Diane Taylor. Jeff was a proud Papa to many grandchildren and will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Loved ones are warmly invited to celebrate Jeff’s life at the Peterborough Lions Community Centre on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A family service will take place at Sandy Lake Cemetery on December 9, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.

Passed Away on November 27, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Lockwood Buchner on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, at the age of 93. Margaret was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend whose creativity and warmth will be remembered by all.

Predeceased by her husband, Margaret leaves behind her children Catherine and David (Karen), her grandchildren Cristin (Sian) and Wade, stepchildren Lynn (George), Robert (Samantha), and Paul, as well as step-grandchildren Ryan, Linsay, Corey, Teaghan, Timea, and Ben. She will also be missed by her dear friends Linda and Shelley. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Buchner, and her sisters Laverne, Alberta, and Beryl.

Margaret will be fondly remembered as a talented director and actress with the Theatre Guild and as a novelist, having published six children’s books and three adult fiction novels. Her accomplishments earned her recognition in the Pathway of Fame.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ashburnham Funeral Home, 840 Armour Rd., Peterborough. A Memorial Service to celebrate Margaret’s life will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Ashburnham Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Lakefield Cemetery and a reception afterward.

In memory of Margaret, and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.

Norma Adele Bell Harrison passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Fairhaven Long Term Care in Peterborough at the age of 94. Born and raised in Peterborough, Norma later made her home in Toronto, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and cherished memories.

Norma was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur Bell, her first husband, David McEwen, and her brother Grant Harrison (Verna). She is survived by her beloved siblings Anita Richardson (Ken) and Louise Pierce, and will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews Laurie, Christine (Maurice), Michelle (Paul), Jackie (Gary), Tracey (Keith), Will (Laura), Randy (Lauren), as well as her 14 great-nieces and nephews and nine great-great-nieces and nephews.

A talented watercolor artist, Norma had a passion for the arts that reflected her family's love for creativity. She cherished time spent entertaining, showcasing her skills as an exquisite cook, and enjoying good company with a martini in hand. An avid bridge player and traveler, Norma delighted in cruises and adventures with friends and family, creating unforgettable memories.

As per Norma’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Arthritis Society Canada in her memory.
