Kenneth James Loader

June 19, 1928 – November 25, 2024

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Kenneth James Loader on November 25, 2024, at the age of 96. Born on June 19, 1928, and raised in the Northern Ontario Township of Larder Lake, Kenneth was the beloved son of the late James and Flora Loader. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Rheta Lillian Loader.

Ken is survived by his children, Barbara Farrar (Stephen) of Toronto, and Norman Loader (Anita Lanning) of Mississauga. He was a proud grandfather to Christine Marchetti (Bryan) of Toronto, Michael Bahrey (Lisa) of Fort Erie, Lisa-Marie Bahrey (Nadia Brabant) of Toronto, and Harrison Gemmiti (Robert) of Bolton. Ken was also a cherished great-grandfather to Charlotte, Olivia, and William Marchetti, and Sammy Bahrey. He will be fondly remembered by lifelong friends and family, including Don Sears (Jane Murdock), and as "Papa Ken" to Brittany, Dylan, and Tyler.

At the age of 13, Ken began working on the diamond drill at the mine in the Township of Kirkland Lake. Later, he worked for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation as a Parts man/Shipper Receiver, retiring at the age of 65. In his golden years, Ken and Rheta relocated to Hanover, where they pursued their love of gardening, camping, and spending time with friends at the local Legion for a game of euchre.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Village Retirement Residence and Long-Term Care for their compassionate and dedicated care. A special thank you to Pastor Diane for her prayers and singing Ken’s favorite songs, including “Green Green Grass of Home,” bringing him comfort in his final days.

"Holding your hand for the last time was the second most difficult thing I have ever had to do. Letting go of your hand for the last time was the first."

A Celebration of Life for Ken and Rheta will be held in the spring of 2025. Arrangements are entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services. For further details, please visit greybrucecremation.com.
