BINGHAM, Maurice Bingham - 2-Jul-1934 - 5-Sep-2024
George Maurice Bingham, known as Maurice, died peacefully Sept 5th, 2024 after a brief illness in his 91st year. Maurice was born to James Bingham and Sarah Bingham (Collins) from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
He is survived by his wife (Pauline) of 64 years, and their 3 children Peter (Carol), Philip (Terisa) and Sharon (Donald). Also survived by his 2 younger siblings Lindy (Jim) and Maureen (Robert) and by his 10 Grandchildren (Aidan, Colin, Clare), (Connor, Eryn, Mason), (Andrew, Josh, Hannah, Liam) and 5 great grandchildren: Logan, Sawyer, Declan, Aubrey, and Adelyn.
Maurice retired as Canadian President of a global Medical/Laboratory diagnostic equipment and reagent manufacturer/supplier. He met his wife Pauline (a registered Nurse and midwife) where they trained at the same hospital in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and both accepted jobs in North Bay Civic hospital in 1960 having never travelled to Canada; Pauline as an RN, and Maurice as a Medical Technologist. All 3 of their children were born in that same hospital.
Maurice progressed to the position of Chief Laboratory Technologist at the Hospital which is the top job in that field. He then accepted a position in sales at one of his suppliers in 1969 when they moved to their still current home in Ajax, Ontario. He rose through positions in Sales as National Sales Manager and retired as President.
They loved their time in Florida and visiting family in the UK and Ireland. Maurice was an avid golfer and loved to swim as did his own father. He did laps in their backyard pool as recently as this past summer and collected more golf balls than he lost at his local club where he was a member for many years, and had 3 hole-in-ones in his golfing career, 2 more than any of his children. He also enjoyed time with his 10 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
