Sandra de Freitas (neé Harley)

November 10, 1955 - November 27, 2024

Sandra de Freitas, fondly known as Sandy and ‘mums,’ was a woman of immense love, resilience, and generosity. To many, she was a guiding light and a source of unending compassion. November was a month of milestones in Sandy’s life: she was born November 10, 1955, married November 26, 1973, and bid farewell November 27, 2024, at the age of 69, surrounded by her family, whom she loved fiercely: her husband Duane, her son Justin, and her daughter Kayla.

For over five decades, Sandy shared her life with her beloved husband, building a partnership rooted in love, adventure, and shared dreams in the Rupununi, Guyana. Together, they raised many children and grandchildren, both by blood and bond. Sandy is also survived by two loving sisters, a loving brother, five nephews, and one niece.

Sandy’s life was a rich tapestry of purpose and passion. She managed a ranch, ran a business, led a tourism enterprise, and taught herself medicine and first aid for remote areas. She opened her home and heart to anyone in need. Known for her fierce determination, she found joy in the pleasures of life: good music, good food, a good joint, a good shot, and good company. She loved poetry, red then blue then silver nail polish, cooking, art, dancing, silver jewelry, a good murder mystery, and the natural beauty of the world around her.

She believed in living fully and always said, “Better to burn out than fade away.” Her zest for life was contagious, and her advice, “Go for it,” inspired everyone she knew. Sandy had a gift for making others feel seen, heard, and loved, cherishing the connections she formed throughout her life.

Sandy joins her beloved mother, who meant so much to her. Sandy’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. Her spirit will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her, a reminder of a life well-lived and a love freely given.

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and very dear.

Marjorie Jill Vukovic

February 1, 1935 - November 26, 2024

Mum passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in her 90th year. She joins her beloved husband Vlado. Lovingly remembered by her sons: Nicholas (Nancy), Andrew (Margaret), and Christopher (Alison). Very proud and devoted grandmother of Gregory, Maia, William, and Teddy. Jill was predeceased by her sister Diana and brother Kenneth.

Jill loved teaching Junior Kindergarten at Annette Street Public School, introducing children to their start in school. Her classroom was always a place of colour, texture, and experience.

Mum had many hobbies, including pottery with Pops, knitting, crocheting, quilting, cooking, and baking (her massive cookbook collection as evidence). Despite no discernible order, she always knew where to find a particular recipe! She enjoyed stays at the cottage, swimming even up to a cottage closure at Thanksgiving. She loved her guinea pigs, cats, Britcoms, Marks & Spencer biscuits, POLO candies, and the occasional cider or gin & tonic.

Mum cherished her time in Britain and warmly welcomed family and friends who visited there. She loved hearing from her grandchildren and learning about their adventures. Despite the trials and tribulations of aging, she never lost her ability to enjoy the moment.

Mum will be lovingly remembered and always missed by her family and friends.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McEachnie Funeral Home. A private family service will be held in the Spring.

Cheers Mum and Laku noć.

Adam Tyler McNeil

31-Mar-1991 - 28-Nov-2024

In Loving Memory

It is with deepest sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Adam McNeil.

Adam was born in March 1991 and passed in November 2024. He is survived by his parents, Lorne and Mari-Lynne; brother Jason; future sister-in-law Rachel; and grandmother Louise (Morris) McNeil. Adam is predeceased by his loving grandparents: Brenton McNeil, Joan (Davenport) White, and John White.

At a young age, Adam developed a love of hockey and would often wake his parents several hours early to head to the rink. As he grew older, he loved to fish—though if the fish were biting at 6 AM, Adam preferred to arrive by noon. He also enjoyed hunting but was always in favor of a later start.

Adam ensured everyone felt included and valued. He had a gift for making people feel heard and safe. He enjoyed researching current events and discussing them; while he might not agree with your position, he would listen and agree to disagree.

Adam lived life on his terms, always considerate of others. Rest in peace, my son. You will be the first one I see when I get there.
