Albin Anetter

December 17, 1931 - December 31, 2024

Albin Anetter, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on December 31, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Albin was born in Austria in 1931 to Maria Waluschnig and Karl Anetter, the youngest of three boys. He was predeceased by his son, Danny, and grandson, Chase, and leaves behind his devoted wife of 70 years, Frances; his daughters Christine (Richard) and Doris (Bill); and his cherished grandchildren Brittany (Jeff), Katie, Ellie (Ty), and Brent (Andrea), as well as his great-grandchildren Ella, Jake, and Annika.

Albin and Frances worked in Switzerland for four years before marrying and immigrating to Montreal in 1954. There, Albin quickly established himself as a talented cabinet maker, creating beautiful furniture that became his signature. With Frances by his side, handling the paperwork, managing materials, deliveries, and raising their children, Albin worked tirelessly to build a successful woodworking business, ensuring his family was well cared for.

Having lived through a war-torn Austria, it became so important to him to be a good provider. Albin was a shrewd businessman who knew the value of a dollar and passed on the importance of hard work and determination to everyone around him.

Outside of work, Albin lived life to the fullest, always making time for family, fun, and adventure. He built a beautiful cottage on the shores of Lac Blanc in the Quebec Laurentians, where he spent many joyful hours skiing, swimming, water skiing, reading, hunting, picking berries, and foraging chanterelle mushrooms. This cottage became a beloved gathering place for family and friends, creating countless happy memories for all who visited.

After 25 years in Quebec, Albin and Frances moved to Ontario to give their son Danny a better life. Albin was a fierce advocate for Danny, believing that every child deserved to live in the comfort and security of their family home. He worked tirelessly to break barriers for individuals removed from group homes, ensuring that Danny could come home and thrive. His unwavering belief in the power of family and love was evident in everything he did.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Elisa, Henrietta, William, and Sonia for their kind and compassionate care.

A Time to Remember

A Time to Remember Albin will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, Ontario, L1T 2Z7.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Durham Association for Family Resources or the Alzheimer's Society of Canada in Albin's memory.

Rosalie Gwendolyn Quinton

May 20, 1922 – January 5, 2025

The family is saddened to announce the unexpected passing of our Aunt Rosalie on January 5, 2025. Rosalie, in her 103rd year, enjoyed a long and well-loved life. As an ever-present constant in our lives, we, her many nieces and nephews, naively thought we’d have more time. Our compassionate funeral director consoled us with a kind reminder, “Of course you would be shocked; she gave you no notice!”

Rosalie is predeceased by her parents, Eleazar Quinton and Florence (Simms) Quinton, as well as her eight siblings, including her sisters and brothers-in-law: Charles (Hazel), Lora (Sam), Harold (Lorraine), Martha (Reginald), Clyde (Jean), George (died as an infant), Rex (Dolly), and Don (Gussie).

Born and raised in the small village of Charleston, Newfoundland, founded by her great-grandfather Charles Quinton, Rosalie was a bright, energetic child who excelled at school and preferred staying indoors to pursue her interests. As a young woman, she remained resolute in her independence, warning that if marriage meant abandoning work, it was not for her.

After her schooling, Rosalie ventured to St. John’s, Newfoundland, and later moved to Ontario, joining her siblings. She dedicated herself to her work well into her seventies, finding purpose and joy in her career. Deeply loyal to her family and compassionate toward young children, she was a long-time donor to the Sick Kids Hospital Foundation. Her steadfast love was evident in her annual birthday cards, which always included two dollars, a gesture fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

Rosalie’s daily five-minute chats often ended with, “As long as you’re okay, that’s the main thing. Love you lots and we’ll talk tomorrow.” Her cross-continent weather updates were a constant source of amusement and love. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Amica in North York, including doctors, nurses, PSWs, housekeepers, custodians, and even the hairdresser and pedicurist, who brought so much joy to Rosalie’s days.

Cornelia Hendrika Elizabeth Wagner (nee Gelauf)

October 29, 1934 - January 16, 2025

Cornelia Wagner (Corrie) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, January 16th, 2025, at the age of 90, in Brighton, Ontario. She will be forever missed by her husband, Jan Rudolf Wagner (Rudy). They shared 71 years of marriage together. Cherished by her children Annelize (Clay), Antonia (Henry), and Monica (Michael). Corrie will be missed by her grandchildren Christopher (Kristen), Timothy (Amanda), Jacob (Trish), and Meaghan (Michael), as well as her great-grandchildren Nicholas and Madison. Corrie is predeceased by her sisters Beppie and Hennie and brothers Piet, Gerard, and Herman.

Born in The Hague, The Netherlands, she was the daughter of Cornelia and Henk Gelauf. In 1957, she immigrated to Toronto, Canada, with her husband and two eldest daughters, where her youngest daughter was later born. Corrie’s love for her family showed brightly through every gathering. Her love of dear friends was built on long friendships, sharing the love of sailing, food, Alabama, their cottages, and their Dutch heritage. There were many, many years of constant partying. Life was good.

In her late 80s, Corrie shared her experiences as a young girl in occupied Holland through a novel prepared by her daughter, Annelize (Liesje Wagner), entitled Corrie and the Rose Accordion: Dutch Girl, Hitler’s War, Symbol of Hope. Her wish was to help younger generations understand the details of this vital part of history. Her life as a very young child struggling to survive the horrors of war and near death formed who she was and, as a result of an experience at the Brighton Legion Branch 100, she was suddenly anxious to delve into memories she refused to share all her life, to bring attention to the brave Canadian soldiers who selflessly put their lives at stake protecting and saving a people they knew nothing about. Because of them, she was alive.

Known as possibly one of the most beautiful women in the world at the height of her youth, she continued to be a striking presence at all ages with her love of clothing, jewelry, and color. She loved rug hooking, her pets, cooking for family, and evenings on the deck with her friends and family.

Corrie’s hugs were enormous, and her energetic laugh spread to anyone around her. Her striking blue eyes sparkled and shone with pleasure as she greeted you at their door.

A private burial will be held at Salem United Church Cemetery. A public Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25th, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at the Bowmanville Royal Canadian Legion Branch 178, 109 King Street East, Bowmanville.

Flowers may be sent to 24 Orchard Park, Bowmanville. Instead of flowers, donations in Corrie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. For more information, please call 902-523-2512 or email ollivertwist2014@gmail.com.

Tome Tomovski

October 5, 1941 - January 14, 2025

Tome Tomovski, 83, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, with family by his side. We were blessed with the chance to tell him how loved he was, and how proud we were to call him Dad and Dedo.

In his 20’s, Tome met and married the love of his life, Susan (Trajka), in Toronto, both having emigrated from Macedonia to Canada. Together, they had three loving sons: Alexander, Nick, and Tome Jr. Despite becoming blind at the age of 30, Tome never let that define him. He embraced life fully, raising his sons with love, strength, and determination, and supporting his family through every challenge. Nothing made him happier than talking about his boys and the joy they brought him. His positivity, sense of humor, and joy for life shone brightest when he was surrounded by his family, including countless uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Tome’s great memories will carry us through this difficult time. We are comforted by the thought of his reunion in Heaven with Susan and by knowing that he ‘sees’ anew again. Almost exactly three years to the day after Susan passed away, Tome joins his loving parents Alekso and Menka, his beautiful sister Nevena, and many other cherished relatives in Heaven.

Tome will be dearly missed by his sons Alexander, Nick, and Tome Jr., their wives Rachel, Annika, and Aa-Na, and his seven adoring grandchildren: Braedon, Logan, Kailee, Erik, Amanda, Isabella, and Kaya. He will also be lovingly remembered by the extended Tomovski and Tzongas families.

Rest in peace, Dad. We love you!

Guido De Kerpel

April 30, 1945 - January 15, 2025

In Loving Memory of Guido De Kerpel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 30, 1945, in Belgium, Guido’s life was marked by kindness, curiosity, and a love for connecting with others.

In 1967, Guido and his wife Agnes immigrated to Canada, first settling in Montreal before making their way to London, Ontario, where they built a life and raised their family. Guido worked as a social worker at Victoria Hospital in London, touching many lives with his compassion and dedication. Later, he pursued his passion for antiquing as an antique dealer at Weldwood Antiques, blending his love of history and community. During his time at Weldwood, Guido also started his own private practice in family and marital counseling, continuing to help others with his wisdom and caring nature.

A true adventurer at heart, Guido loved to travel, experiencing the wonders of the world. He was fortunate enough to visit Europe, the USA, the Caribbean, Mexico, and Hong Kong. His curiosity extended to his hobbies as well—whether painting, tackling home repairs, or learning something new, Guido approached each endeavor with enthusiasm and discovery. Guido had a passion for collecting treasures, particularly stamps and coins, appreciating the beauty and stories they held.

A talented musician, Guido found joy in playing the piano and sang for many years with the German/Canadian Choir in London, Ontario. Guido’s family cherished his heartfelt birthday tradition of singing to them, a memory they will forever hold dear.

Guido is survived by his devoted wife, Agnes, with whom he recently celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage; his sons, Stijn (Katherine) and Daan (Melissa); his grandsons, Nathan and Alex, as well as several members of his immediate and extended family in Belgium.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Ballycliffe Nursing Home for their exceptional care and compassion for Guido over the past year. Your kindness brought comfort and support to both Guido and his family during this time, and your efforts will always be appreciated.

Guido’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, his melody continuing to echo in the lives he touched.

A funeral service will not be held, as cremation has already taken place. A private celebration of life will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Parkinson’s Society of Southwestern Ontario, the McCormick Day Program in London, Ontario, or a charity of your choice.
