Murdock "Mike" Fitzpatrick

October 3, 1932 - November 23, 2024

After a life full of love, Murdock passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the age of 92.

Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, he was predeceased by his parents Marion and Daniel Fitzpatrick. Murdock came from a large family of brothers and sisters. He is survived by siblings Stella Stewart (predeceased husband Raymond), Alex Fitzpatrick (wife Joy), Anna Kearnes (predeceased husband Chuck), Doris Cook (husband Percy), James Fitzpatrick (wife Katy), and Mabel Bingley (husband Havelock). He is predeceased by siblings Mary Boudreau (predeceased husband Eugene), Daniel Fitzpatrick (survived by wife Brenda), and Patrick Fitzpatrick.

Murdock moved from Nova Scotia to Ontario in the early 1950s with the love of his life, Marie (née Carrigan). They married, raised six children, and built a life together. He remained a devoted husband until Marie’s passing in 1994. Murdock was a loving father to Mary Leney (husband Bob), Lester Fitzpatrick (wife Patsy), Susan Paddison, Mike Fitzpatrick, Patricia Chassels (husband Jeff), and Debbie Fitzpatrick. He was also a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who will cherish his memory.

Family vacations to his birthplace in Nova Scotia were a cherished tradition. These trips brought together his extended family, creating lasting memories. He later built a cottage in Nova Scotia, which became a beloved retreat. Summers were also spent at their trailer in Birdsall Beach Resort on Rice Lake in Ontario, adding to a lifetime of shared joy and laughter.

Murdock’s life was an example of unwavering dedication, love, and humor. His kindness and strength were a source of inspiration to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the many stories and memories he leaves behind.

James Puddister

It is with great sadness that the family of James Puddister announce his passing on November 23, 2024, at the age of 77.

James will be greatly missed by his wife Maria, his children Tammi (Steve), Tracy, Lisa (Matt), Tim (Tanya), Jennifer (Rob), and Trish, as well as his grandchildren Amanda, Adam, Jake, Emma, Ryley, Pia, and Ashlyn, and his great-grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.

Visitation will take place at McEachnie Funeral Home, located at 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Please note: Old Kingston Road will be closed on Saturday, November 30, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Please use the Church Street North entrance to access the funeral home parking lot.

David Robert Dewar

20-Apr-1952 – 21-Nov-2024

David Robert Dewar of Pickering, Ontario, passed away on November 21, 2024, at Centenary Hospital, Scarborough, at 72 years of age.

Dave was a professor of Electrical Trades at Durham College for 35 years and served as Co-ordinator of Electric Trades for 20 of those years, sharing his extensive knowledge with hundreds of students.

He was an avid fisherman and passed that love on to his sons and grandchildren. With his many skills and love of woodworking, he built a cottage where he spent many summers with his family.

David is survived by his wife Irene, their two sons Allan and Mark (Laura), and grandchildren Kendra, Broden, Keira, and Camryn. He is predeceased by his parents Robert and Irene.

Our sincerest gratitude to the doctors and nurses of the ICU department at Scarborough Centenary Hospital.

Funeral arrangements have been made at McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Rd., Pickering Village, Ajax, Ontario. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 28, 2024, followed by a service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Erskine Cemetery, 886 Finch Ave., Pickering, Ontario.
