Phitsbert "Bertie" George Emmanuel Dawes
April 23, 1952 - October 24, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phitsbert George Emmanuel Dawes, lovingly known as “Bertie,” on October 24, 2024, at the age of 72. Bertie passed away peacefully at his home in Ajax, Ontario, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Oracabessa, St. Mary, Jamaica, Bertie is survived by his devoted wife, Marcia, and his sons Adrian and Brian. He was a cherished grandfather to Eva, Aidan, Addison, Lauren, and Meghan. Bertie will also be fondly remembered by his brothers Carlton Walker and Jeffery Roberts, their families, and many extended family members and friends. Known for his “gift of the gab,” Bertie delighted in sharing stories and connecting with those around him.

After immigrating to Canada in 1970, Bert enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Federal Government, including 23 years with the Canada Revenue Agency and 12 years with Health Canada, retiring as a Labour Relations Advisor. A dedicated sportsman, he was active in the Commonwealth Sports Club, a talented cricketer, and a golf enthusiast in retirement. Bertie’s greatest joy, however, was playing dominoes with friends and family.

Bertie’s wit, humor, and big heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In his memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Helen Pearl Mornan (née Messner)
September 5, 1931 - October 21, 2024

At 93 years of age, Helen Pearl Mornan passed peacefully on October 21, 2024, joining her beloved husband, Jerry (1979). Helen’s life was a testament to her love for family, courage, strength, and unwavering faith. Known for her determination and resilience, she faced life’s challenges with grace and tenacity.

Helen leaves behind her daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie Dickie (Dave) and Barb Orr (Brad), her cherished grandchildren, Colin Dickie (Melody), Kyle Dickie (Justine), Lindsay Baril (Matt), and Lauren Orr, and her adored great-grandchildren, Keira and Bowen Dickie. Her legacy of love, strength, and faith will continue to live on in each of them.

A private family ceremony has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Uxbridge Legion, 109 Franklin Street, Uxbridge, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., with tributes beginning at 2:00 p.m. A wheelchair-accessible lift is available at the front entrance for those in need of assistance; please contact us upon arrival.

Robert William Sanderson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert William “Bob” Sanderson on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the age of 85.

Bob will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted wife of over 40 years, Mercedes, and his children Robert and Jocelyn (Daniel). Born and raised in Toronto, Bob was the cherished son of Edward William and Dolina McKay Sanderson, and beloved brother to Donalda (Jack).

Known to family and friends as “Bob,” he was a man of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and profound kindness. He lived a long and fulfilling life, defined by love, service, and humility.

A dedicated educator, Bob spent his career teaching with the Toronto District School Board, touching countless lives with his wisdom, compassion, and warm-hearted nature. Even after retiring, his commitment to helping others never wavered. He remained an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Ajax and continued to serve his community through volunteer work.

In his younger years, Bob traveled extensively, yet as he grew older, he found joy in the simple pleasures of home and community life. As a husband, father, neighbour, friend, teacher, and coach, he was always ready for a good conversation and quick to offer a helping hand. Bob was also an avid reader with an eclectic taste in music and shared a quick wit. His gentle spirit, sincere generosity, and calm demeanor will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, there will be an intimate memorial for family and friends who knew him. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all those who were involved in Bob’s life and care, especially in recent years, and to those who have offered their love and support at this difficult time.

Maureen Middleton
April 9, 1938 - October 21, 2024

In loving memory of Maureen Middleton, who passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, at the age of 86. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Paul, her parents, her brother, and her two sisters.

Maureen was the proud mother of her daughter Linda (Trevor) and her son Richard (Heather). She will be deeply missed by her four grandchildren, Mitchell, Sydney, Julia, and Chloe, as well as by her extended family and friends.

Heartfelt thanks go out to her best friend, Maureen, affectionately known together as “the two Maureens,” for her unwavering support and friendship throughout Maureen’s life. The family also extends their gratitude to the staff at Livita Parkway Assisted Living and Bay Ridges Long Term Care for their compassionate care during Maureen’s final years.

Maureen is finally free from the confines of her body and mind. Fly high!

Amy Isabel Koslowski
January 25, 1945 - October 22, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the Koslowski family announces the sudden passing of Amy Sherman Koslowski at the age of 79 on October 22, 2024. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Klaus, with whom she shared a wonderful 59 years of marriage. Also predeceased by her sisters Kathy Sherman Barker, Nancy Burrell-Sherman Carvel, Janice Sherman Cleghorn, and brother Guy Sherman.

Amy leaves behind her granddaughter Sam, daughters Krista and Kelly, her sisters Vera Sherman Gordon, Ellery Sherman Scott, Eveonne Sherman White, Suzanne Sherman Pantalleresco, and brother Sonny Sherman, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Amy will be greatly missed for her kindness and warmth that she extended to everyone around her. She was an extra grandmother to many, and her compassionate nature touched countless lives. She is now a guardian angel to all who loved her.

Though her smile is gone forever and her hand we cannot touch,

Paolina Assenza
November 26, 1934 – October 20, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Paolina "Lina" Assenza at the age of 89. Lina will be lovingly remembered by her children, Eleanora (Paolo), Connie (Concetto), and John (Nicole); her grandchildren, John, Corrado, Sabrina, Christopher, Nikki, and Corrado; and her great-grandchildren, Paolo, Dahlia, Luke, and Kayla.

Lina was predeceased by her devoted husband of 70 years, Corrado Assenza, and her beloved granddaughter, Daniela Di Rosolini. Lina lived a life full of love, warmth, and devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McEachnie Funeral Home (28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax). The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10:30 AM at McEachnie Funeral Home, followed by burial at Christ the King Cemetery (7770 Steeles Avenue East, Markham).

William Malcolm Cadoret

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of William Malcolm Cadoret at the age of 90. Malcolm will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 68 years, his three children, eight grandchildren, and the many friends and people who had the honor of knowing him.

Malcolm lived a humble yet extraordinary life. His dedication to others' happiness and his unwavering love for his family were evident in every interaction. He had a remarkable work ethic, though his family and friends always remained his top priority. A talented musician with a deep love for music, Malcolm’s outgoing personality had a way of bringing people together, creating cherished moments that will be remembered by all.

The world has lost a great man—one who inspired others to live life fully, with respect, love, and devotion to family. He will be remembered always for his profound impact on those around him. Everyone who knew Malcolm is better for having known him.
