Robert William Sanderson
8-Dec-1938 - 25-Oct-2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert William “Bob” Sanderson on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the age of 85.

Bob will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted wife of over 40 years, Mercedes, and his children Robert and Jocelyn (Daniel). Born and raised in Toronto, Bob was the cherished son of Edward William and Dolina McKay Sanderson, and beloved brother to Donalda (Jack).

Known to family and friends as “Bob,” he was a man of unwavering faith, quiet strength, and profound kindness. He lived a long and fulfilling life, defined by love, service, and humility.

A dedicated educator, Bob spent his career teaching with the Toronto District School Board, touching countless lives with his wisdom, compassion, and warm-hearted nature. Even after retiring, his commitment to helping others never wavered. He remained an active member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Ajax and continued to serve his community through volunteer work.

In his younger years, Bob traveled extensively, yet as he grew older, he found joy in the simple pleasures of home and community life. As a husband, father, neighbour, friend, teacher, and coach, he was always ready for a good conversation and quick to offer a helping hand. Bob was also an avid reader with an eclectic taste in music and shared a quick wit. His gentle spirit, sincere generosity, and calm demeanor will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

In accordance with Bob’s wishes, there will be an intimate memorial for family and friends who knew him. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all those who were involved in Bob’s life and care, especially in recent years, and to those who have offered their love and support at this difficult time.
