Tilmon Joseph Vautour

February 7, 1931 - January 13, 2025

Tilmon (Tim) Vautour passed away peacefully at 10:30 PM on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Centennial Place Long-Term Care. He was 93 years old.

Beloved husband of Kathleen (Kay), Tim was a devoted father to Linda (Mike) and Paul (Sylvie). He was a proud grandfather, "Papa," to Zackary, Alyssa, Jeremy, and Hayden. Tim was also a great uncle ("oncle") to many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

As per Tim's wishes, cremation has taken place. His family will bring him to his hometown of St. Ignace, New Brunswick, where he will be laid to rest with his 11 siblings and parents.

Tim was immensely proud of being a hard-working man. He often shared stories about his many jobs, most notably his 35 years as a stationary fireman for CP Rail. After retirement, Tim continued to give back by volunteering at food and furniture banks in Scarborough, where he raised his family. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, a testament to his generous and compassionate nature.

 

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Centennial Place LTC (Heritage) for their kind and compassionate care over the past three years.

 

Elisabeth Kristahn

January 19, 1928 - January 12, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Elisabeth Kristahn on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the age of 96 years. Beloved wife of the late Fritz Kristahn.

Loving mother to Barbara Potter (Jim). Dear Omi to Krista (Bob), Jamie (Kelly), and Devon (Voula); and cherished great-grandmother to Trinity, Ethan, Liam, Brendan, Andrew, Luke, Hugh, and Henry.

Elisabeth was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Barbara Wormer, her sisters Cecile and Hildegard, and her brother Hans Wormer. She will be lovingly remembered by her extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bowmanville Older Adult Association (BOAA), located at 26 Beech Ave, Bowmanville, ON L1C 3A2, on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses, kitchen and dining staff, and housekeepers at Chartwell Bowmanville Creek. A special thank you to her PSWs Laurie and Allie, and to the compassionate staff at Oak Ridges Hospice for their exceptional care.

Debbie Lynne Warren

October 2, 1955 - December 21, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of the matriarch of their family, Debra “Debbie” Lynne Warren. With her husband by her side, Debbie passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at the age of 69, at her home in Bowmanville, Ontario.

Debbie will be greatly missed by her devoted husband Mike. She was a loving mother to her daughter Mandy (Adam) and son Brad (Jenn), and a cherished stepmother to Krista (Rob). She was a proud and beloved grandmother to Tyler, Jayden, Makaila, Austin, Brody, and Kali.

Lloyd Michael Swire

May 20, 1951 - January 10, 2025

In loving memory of Mr. Lloyd Michael Swire, who passed away on January 10, 2025, at the age of 73 years. Lloyd was the beloved husband of Mrs. Valerie Swire (nee White).

He was the loving father of Ryan Swire and Shaun Swire (Samantha), and a cherished grandfather to Brody, Blake, Dylan, Dakota, and Savannah. Lloyd is also survived by his brother-in-law Bruce White and his sister-in-law Donna Jackson (Rick).

Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Florence Swire.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2025.

 

Gary McSweeney

March 29, 1943 - January 11, 2025

In loving memory of Gary McSweeney, who passed away on January 11, 2025, at the age of 81.

He was the beloved husband of Margaret McSweeney (nee Wiggins) and a proud father to his sons, Chris and Brett (Lisa). Gary was also a devoted grandfather to Cooper and Lily. He is survived by his brothers Eric McSweeney (Lynn) and Marshall McSweeney (Wanda), as well as his sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Gary was predeceased by his son Andrew, his parents Daniel and Josephine McSweeney, and his brothers Glenn and Gerald. His legacy of warmth, kindness, and good humor will be cherished by everyone who knew him.

A tribute to Gary’s life reads: “Gary certainly qualified as a dignitary of the blacktop, never wearing out his welcome or his smile, despite having crossed Canada more times than he could count over the past quarter century.”

Visitation will take place at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 214 King Ave E, Newcastle, ON, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at noon.

Beverly Lorraine Neglia

March 6, 1942 - January 10, 2025

Beverley Lorraine Neglia, in her 83rd year, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Bowmanville Hospital after a short illness.

Beverley was predeceased by her husband, Tony Neglia, and her loving parents, Arthur and Alice Harper. She was the youngest sibling of the Harper family and was also predeceased by her sister, Lorrie Ritchie, and brothers, Douglas Harper and Arthur Harper.

She spent most of her life in Toronto, caring for her parents in their later years. Beverley enjoyed a long and happy marriage with Tony until his passing in 2023. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Florida, attending shows and concerts, and visiting the casino.

In 2023, Beverley moved to Bowmanville Creek Retirement Home, where she made new friends and embraced the vibrant social life.

Beverley will be deeply missed by her niece Linda and her husband Ben Spoelstra, great-niece Laura, great-great-niece Lily Spoelstra, great-niece Heather, and great-great-nephew Carter Acheson. She will also be fondly remembered by her niece Brenda and her husband Matthew Clulow, as well as five additional nieces and three nephews.

Beverley is resting at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home in Bowmanville. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 15, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M., with a funeral service to follow at 11 A.M. A private interment will be held at Westminster Cemetery, North York, where she will be reunited with her parents.

Erica Hilda Helena Bouhénic

April 1, 1942 - January 9, 2025

Erica Hilda Helena Bouhénic of Toronto/Orono, ON, passed away peacefully at home on January 9, 2025, at the age of 82.

She was born on April 1, 1942, to Hermance and Jan Willem Buykes in Stratford, ON. Erica attended the University of Toronto and pursued a career as a High School English Teacher.

During a vacation in Paris, France, she met her beloved husband, Jean-Claude. Together, they had one daughter, Dr. Gabrielle (Alex) Ledger, and two cherished granddaughters, Amelia and Briar.

Erica’s passions included literature, nature, animals, gardening, snorkeling, sailing, and spending time with her dear friends, Elin and Margaret. She treasured the years spent at Glendon College, where Jean-Claude served as Dean of Students, as well as their sabbaticals in the South of France.

She is survived by her older brother Jack Buykes, niece Heidi (Howard) Hilderbrand, and nephew Jeff (Kim) Buykes. She was predeceased by her parents and brother John Buykes.

Erica, a lifelong philosopher and advocate for euthanasia, was sadly unable to experience the peaceful passing she wished for due to systemic challenges in healthcare. Her family is deeply grateful to her ICU nurse Rachel and her friend Dr. Adriana Palencar for their compassionate care.

Grace Bianco

November 13, 1946 - January 7, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Grace Bianco. Grace passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, at the age of 78 at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous and long battle with cancer. Grace was a devoted wife, mother, nonna, sister, and friend, known for her warmth, kindness, and selfless nature. Beloved wife of Vince, loving mother of Tony (Rosa), Frank (Laura), and Angela, and dear nonna of her cherished grandchildren Vincent, Zachary, and Ava. She was the dear sister of Tony (Annetta) and Annette (Vittorio). Grace will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Grace found joy in giving, whether through her delicious cooking or the nurturing care she poured into her beautiful garden. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did, and her memory will live on through the many lives she touched.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no public service will be held at this time.

Ruby Dorothy McDonnell

January 10, 1936 - January 5, 2025

Ruby Dorothy McDonnell passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Sunday, January 5, 2025, just five days short of her 89th birthday. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Kevin; her children Cathy (Doug) and Peter (Cindy); and her five wonderful grandchildren, Patrick (Lindsay), Rachel (Rick), Elizabeth, Aidan, and Rory. Ruby was a proud great-grandmother to Henry, Luca, Hattie, Austin, and Sullivan, and a great friend to many.

Ruby immigrated to Canada from England in 1956, where she met Kevin, her one true love, at a church dance in Toronto. They married in 1958 and shared a beautiful life together. Ruby loved to read, garden, laugh, sing, and dance. She spent her final years at Fosterbrook Nursing Home in Newcastle, where her radiant smile and warm personality endeared her to the wonderful staff.

Ruby will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Her beautiful heart will be remembered every day.

Dorothy Elizabeth Hilton (Nee Collis)

May 17, 1939 - January 7, 2025

Dorothy Elizabeth Hilton passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, after a long battle with dementia. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill, and will be deeply missed by her loving daughters Tammy and Tracy (Brian). Dorothy was a devoted Nanny to Joshua, Kevin, Daniel, Courtney, and Brynn (Kevin), and a proud great-grandmother to Sidney, Ruby, Lily, Autumn, and one more on the way. She was a cherished sister to Joyce and Peggy and predeceased by siblings Jewel, Russell, Leonard, Norman, Shirley, Robert, June, and Muriel. Dorothy was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews and an “Honorary Nanny” to many extended family members.

She will be remembered fondly by a multitude of family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St., Bowmanville, on Monday, January 13th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Service:
A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, January 14th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Bowmanville Cemetery.
