Ian Mason, beloved husband to Claire Mason, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Bowmanville Hospital with his family by his side. Born in 1943, Ian was a loving father to Julia and Carole and a devoted Poppa to Olivia and Ayden.
Ian will be fondly remembered for his sharp wit, sense of humor, love of gardening, and passion for nature. A dedicated film buff and avid reader, Ian found joy in the written word and great films. Above all, he cherished his family and close friends, who will miss him dearly.

Leslie “Les” Dearing, aged 96, passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn Dearing and a devoted father to Gloria Wright-McGregor (John) and Don (Cheryl) Dearing.
Les was a loving grandfather to Krista (Brad), Doug (Amy), Jennifer (Charles), Kelly (Bill), Cody (Sarah), Casey, and Candace (Mike), as well as a proud great-grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren. He will also be dearly missed by his friend and companion, Mavis Parsons, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m.

Ron was a devoted husband to Heather (Brunt) and a loving father to Amanda Westlake and Scott Westlake. Cherished "papa" to Sydney and Kaylin.
Ron was the beloved brother of Penny (Keith) Kelly and Michelle (Steve) Fowler, and the dear son of the late Betty and Ray Westlake. He was also a treasured brother-in-law to Barry (Carrie) Brunt and will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ron enjoyed a long career and retirement from General Motors, where he formed many lasting friendships.
A visitation will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Those wishing to honor Ron’s memory may make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Mental Health charities, or a charity of choice, as a tribute to his caring nature and dedication to the well-being of others.

Timothy Brian Smith, known to many as Tim, passed away suddenly in Toronto on October 7, 2024, at the age of 54. He is predeceased by his parents, Brian and Bonnie Smith, and leaves behind his beloved son, Gaige.
Tim will be lovingly remembered by his brothers, Steve and Kevin (Michelle), and as a devoted uncle to his nephews Tanner, Ty (Kayla), and Carter, and nieces Taryn (Dawson) and Jordyn. His presence will be missed by his aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and many friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Ray VanMeer announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the age of 92. Ray was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor VanMeer and a cherished father to Randy (Donna), Rick (Karen), and the late Patti Kingdom (Dan).
Proud grandfather to Laura Langstaff (Cory) and Nicole VanMeer, Ray was also a dear brother to Don VanMeer and the late Betty McKinnon, and brother-in-law to Joan Haass (Herman). A retiree of General Motors, Ray enjoyed fishing, bowling, and a good game of euchre or crib, always ready to challenge friends and family alike.

Shirley Yvonne Hasiuk (nee Bromell), born on June 10, 1937, to Elgin and Vera Bromell, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, reuniting with her best friend and husband, William.
Shirley was the beloved mother of Jewel (David) Johnston and Wayne (Karen) Hicks, and the cherished grandmother of Chris (Cherri), Darrin, Jennifer, and Dwayne. She was also the adored great-grandmother of Harleigh and Wyatt. Shirley, the eldest of her siblings, shared a special bond with each of them: William (predeceased) (Phyllis) Bromell, Theighn (predeceased) (Carol) Bromell, Gary (Joan, predeceased) Bromell, and Linda (Dayne) Lycett.
Known for her hardworking nature and enormous heart, Shirley selflessly put everyone before herself. She spent countless hours tending to her greenhouse and gardens on the farm and enjoyed canning her harvests in the fall. Ever adventurous, she could be found chasing cows in her nightgown or setting off on road trips, undeterred as long as there was gas in her tank. Her door was always open, welcoming family, friends, neighbors, and anyone looking to share a chat and a laugh.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Kevin and Nancy, whose kindness and care meant so much to Shirley. Heartfelt appreciation also goes to Shirley's niece Deneen and sister Linda for their unwavering support and companionship over the last two years.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Edward “Ted” George Polley on November 6, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville, at the age of 66. Ted will be greatly missed by his loving partner, Wendy Hogg, his stepdaughter Bethany (Mike), and his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob, and Logan. He was a cherished brother to Bonnie Colwell and Rosalie Polley, and a loving uncle to Kimberly Glassford (Bill) and Tanya Colwell, as well as a great uncle to Ryan and Baylee Glassford. Ted was also loved by his father-in-law, Oral Hogg, and his many in-laws.
Predeceased by his parents, George and Ruby Polley, his mother-in-law, Joyce Hogg, and his brother-in-law, Irwin Colwell, Ted’s memory will be held dear by his family and friends. Known for his warm heart and love for the outdoors, Ted spent many summers relaxing on the deck at his trailer at Buckslide Park in Minden.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ted’s life will be held at a later date to honor his memory and the joy he brought to those around him.
Terence (Terry) Frederick Edwin Giles passed away peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on November 5, 2024, at the age of 95. Terry was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Jean Giles (nee Mason), and leaves behind a loving family and cherished memories.
Terry was a devoted father to Lynn (David) and Karen (Jeff), a proud grandfather to Samantha (Chris) and Sarah (Kris), and a great-grandfather to Ben, Laura, Leah, and Monroe. His legacy of kindness, wisdom, and love will live on through them.
A retiree of the City of Oshawa’s Planning and Development Department, Terry also proudly served as a past member of the Ontario Regiment, Oshawa Legion Branch 43, and as the Charter President of the Oshawa Parkwood Rotary Club.
In accordance with Terry’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff of the geriatric and palliative care units at Ross Memorial Hospital, as well as the kind team at Kawartha Lakes Retirement Residence.
