It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Barbara Jean Serroul, age 32, of Oshawa, on October 20, 2024. Barbara Jean’s greatest joy in life was her beloved daughter, Trinity. She cherished every moment spent with her family and friends.

Barbara Jean’s love for animals was boundless, and she found her true calling in the veterinary field, dedicating herself to helping creatures big and small. Her kind heart and gentle spirit touched the lives of so many, both human and animal alike.

She will be remembered for her lively sense of humor and adventurous spirit. Barbara Jean enjoyed spending time outdoors, being by the water, and listening to music.

She is survived by her daughter, Trinity Spooner; her mother, Barb Serroul; her father, Daniel Young; her sister, Mandi (Chris) Shelswell; her nephew, Doyle Shelswell; and her bonus father, Phil Clarkin. Barbara Jean’s memory will also be cherished by her first love, Steven Spooner, as well as her extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Predeceased by her grandparents, Danny and Isabel Serroul, and Stevie and Stella Young, as well as her uncle, Dan Serroul, Barbara Jean’s legacy of compassion will live on in the hearts of those she touched, including her cherished animal friends. She will be missed beyond measure.

Visitation will be held at the Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service in the chapel at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local animal shelter in her memory.

Barbara Jean’s favorite poem was The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe:
“…But the Raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only that one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour…Then the bird said 'Nevermore.'”

Réal Louis Jean-Paul Poulin
August 7, 1953 – October 21, 2024

Peacefully, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, Réal Louis Poulin passed away with his family by his side at Orchard Villa on Monday, October 21st, 2024, at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Odette, loving father of Julie (Willy), and Marie-Elaine. He was a cherished Grand-Papa to Mylemka, Zenayda, Matteo, Kayla, and Olivier.

Réal will be deeply missed by his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. In accordance with his wishes, no services will take place.

Judith Ruby Romany
December 28, 1946 – October 20, 2024

Peacefully at Lakeridge Health Hospital on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the age of 77, Judith Ruby Romany passed away surrounded by loved ones. She was the loving daughter of the late Cyril and Doreen Romany and is now reunited with her predeceased sister, Dian Graham. Judith is survived by her siblings Denise Francis-Lau, Jacqueline Ghent, and Gerard Romany. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, their children, and a wide circle of friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Holy Family Parish, 91 Ribblesdale Drive, Whitby. Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Operation Smile Canada in Judith's memory.

Robert Paton Godfrey
September 26, 1967 – October 17, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Paton Godfrey on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the age of 57. Robert was a beloved son, brother, and uncle, cherished by all who knew him. He was the dearly loved son of Anne Godfrey and the late Joe Godfrey, and a much-adored brother to Lynne (Eric), Alex, and Lesley. Robert was a proud and caring uncle to Ally, Julia, Ailsa, Will, Struan, and Harris. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 12:30 PM until the time of the funeral service in the chapel at 1:30 PM.

Andrew John Rideout
June 3, 1974 – October 15, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Andrew John Rideout announces his passing on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the age of 50.

Andrew was the beloved son of Dianna and the late Allen Rideout. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Jason Rideout, and Jason's partner, Shannon. Andrew was also a cherished uncle to Kyle and Sophie.

A Celebration of Andrew's Life will be held at a later date, with details to follow.

Donald George Wotton
July 11, 1930 – October 15, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald George Wotton announces his passing at the age of 94 on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Oshawa, Ontario.

Beloved husband of 68 years to Joan (nee Barton). He was a devoted father to Cindy (Mike Milling), Karen (Rich Shoemaker), and Linda (Ken Van Schyndel), and is predeceased by their beloved son, Tim. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren: Donald (Brittany), Ginny, Brandon (Emilee), Michelle (Mike), Heather (Braeden), Richard (Madison), Lisa (Jemuel), and Emily, along with 7 great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his dear brother, Sandy Ethier, and his extended family in Owen Sound.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King St. W. Oshawa. Details will be announced.

William "Bill" Malcolm Peters
February 16, 1944 – October 12, 2024

William "Bill" Malcolm Peters passed away peacefully on October 12th, 2024, at the age of 80.

Bill is survived by his only daughter Lesley (Chris), his brother Jim, and his three beloved granddaughters Kiana, Alexandra, and Rowen, who were lovingly known as "Papa’s girls." He is predeceased by his wife Marion, his brother Archie, and his parents Isobel and Archibald.

Bill will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate nurses in the Critical Care Unit of the Markham-Stouffville Hospital for their exceptional care.

Visitation will take place at the Oshawa Funeral Home (847 King Street West, Oshawa) on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service in the chapel from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Barbara Mary Howson (nee Walsh)
May 8, 1919 – October 15, 2024

Barbara Mary Howson passed away peacefully with family by her side at Seven Oaks Long Term Care, Scarborough, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the remarkable age of 105. Predeceased by her beloved husband, John. Loving mother of Mary Jane Anthony, Dick Howson (Cathy), and Sally Cherry (Drew). Cherished grandmother of Jennifer Martel (Jamie), Kyle Cherry (Sarah), Troy Cherry (Ivan), and proud great-grandmother to many. Predeceased by her siblings Frederick Walsh (Joan) and Bill Walsh (Pat). Barbara will be dearly remembered by her extended family and friends.

Barbara was well-known for her volunteer work, including 22 years at St. Vincent's Kitchen, contributions to the OSCC, and as a teacher with the Literacy Council, where she received many awards for her service.

Marion Ada May
November 28, 1926 – October 8, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marion Ada May (née Bowles) on October 8, 2024, at the age of 97. Marion was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charlie, and her brother, William Bowles.

Marion is survived by her son Stephen (Joanne) and daughter Sherry Mary Axton (Nigel), as well as her grandchildren, Derek (Victoria) and Michael (Kirsten). She will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren Bronwynn, Emersyn, Sawyer, and Audrey. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hillsdale Terraces LTC for their compassionate care and support.

Beppie Boudens
May 5, 1932 – October 10, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beppie Boudens-Alexande, who passed away peacefully on the morning of October 10, 2024, surrounded by her three loving daughters. Born in Lohkseumawe, Aceh, Indonesia, on May 5, 1932, Beppie lived a rich and fulfilling life, from her early years in Indonesia and the Netherlands to her final decades in Canada.

Beppie met her husband, Pieter, through mutual friends, and the two married in 1960. Together, they raised four children, Jacoba (Jackie), Hildegonda (Connie), Margaretha (Maggie), and Augustinus (Gus). After relocating to Canada in 1968, Beppie continued to share her love of art, music, and education. She excelled in fibre arts, created many original works, and was deeply engaged in her community, from mental health advocacy to involvement in school associations.

Beppie is predeceased by her husband Pieter, son Gus, and her older brother, Rob. She leaves behind her daughters and their families, as well as many extended relatives and dear friends. A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, October 26 at 10:30 am at the Oshawa Funeral Home.

Flowers are welcomed, as are donations to the following charities in Beppie's name: Le Havre/Our Harbour, Ami-Quebec, and Women’s Health Collective Canada.
