WALKEY, Francis (Frank) Gregory Walkey - September 2, 1959 - October 2, 2024

After a short but courageous battle, on the afternoon of October 2nd, Frank crossed over to Heaven’s ever after. Greeted with loving arms at Heaven’s gate by his wife; Dawn Walkey, his parents; Frank and Lillian Walkey, and his loving sister in law; Helen Lamb. Lillian’s finally got her son back in her arms, and Heaven is having one hell of a party with Freeway Frank DJ’ing up there.

Frank will be missed greatly by his family and friends; he was the most reliable and supportive best friend in the world to his children and their families. He will also be eternally missed by his two sisters, Karen (and Steve) Rankin, Judi (and Rob) Elnor, as well as his nieces and nephews, Lisa (Justin), Brent (Christina), Jenna (Kyle), Angelina, Dominic, Kohl, Aiden, Cameron, and Ellie. Frank was also a cherished Brother In Law and Uncle to family across Ontario and Newfoundland. Frank’s friends in Port Perry will also forever miss him, being the honorary mayor of their street.

Frank was the most selfless, kind-hearted, sweet man you could ever be lucky to meet and befriend. He would, without question, give you whatever you need or ask for - he would be looking in a shed, filing through his drawers or looking up exactly what you need if he didn’t have it. He’d make you smile anytime you talk to him, whether it was excitedly answering a call, “yello”, or greeting you with a big soft hug where you’d melt into his arms. His quick wit, sarcasm, and pure enjoyment of a laugh will always be cherished, missed, and talked about for years to come when thinking of all the great memories we’ve shared with Frank.

Tragically, Frank was pre-deceased by his wife, Dawn, we know they’re having an amazing reunion and are eternally together again - though passing only 6 months apart, it’s the longest they’ve been apart in almost 40 years. Us as their children will miss them more than words can explain but we find solace in the fact that they are together looking down on us, we hope we are continuing to make you proud for the rest of our lives. We love you.

“When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind”.

Rest well Dad, we will carry on with saying goodnight to you looking up at the stars every night. You’ve left a massive hole in our lives but how lucky are we to have had you for the time we did, to be able to miss you as much as we do.

** Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 11th, 2024 at Oshawa Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 9:30am-10:30am with the service beginning at 10:30am. Private reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Frank’s honour to Diabetes Canada.
