It is with great sadness that the family of Denise Elizabeth Reid announces her passing on October 30, 2024, at the age of 59. Denise passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health in Oshawa, surrounded by her loved ones. She was predeceased by her parents Patricia Foster and Buddy Fallows, and by her grandparents Doris and Earl Clark, who lovingly raised her. She was also predeceased by her sisters Joan and Judy; her brothers Douglas, Edward, Brian, and Ross; her brothers-in-law Dennis and Andy; and her cousin Cathy.
Denise leaves behind her cherished daughters Michelle (Greig), Amanda (Ryan), Jackie, and Jennifer (Brad), as well as her stepdaughters Kim and Amy. She was a devoted grandmother to Bradley, Nicholas, Grace, Cassandra, Rachel, Elizabeth, Owen, Sara, Liam, Landon, Mackenzie, Rebecca, Dawson, and Oliver, whom she loved with all her heart.
Denise is also mourned by her stepmother Janet; her sisters Pamela, Gisela (Sean), Cindy, Charlene (Mike), Christine, Carolyn, and Sandy; her brother Jeff; and her stepsiblings Adam and Simone. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A visitation and service to celebrate Denise’s life will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, with the date and time to be determined. Details will be shared with family and friends in due course.

Robert "Bob" James Amey, a retired Oshawa Firefighter, passed away suddenly at his residence on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the age of 86. He was a cherished father to Melissa (John) and Rob (Josie), and a loving grandad to Michael, Amanda (Kyle), Kaitlynne (Dan), and Nicole (Ryan). Bob was also a proud great-grandfather to Aubree, Lincoln, Ellie, and Dawson. He will be greatly missed by his beloved furbaby, Lily. He was the dear son of the late Albert and Angela Amey and is survived by his sisters Judy and Elizabeth, predeceased by his sister Dorothy. Bob will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends.
Bob dedicated 35 years to the Oshawa Fire Department and spent countless hours working alongside his father Bert at the family restaurant, The Jolly Friar. In 1977, he and his father started a dairy distribution business, which he continued to run with his son Rob until his passing.

Joseph "Joe" Cassidy Lynch passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Florence (née Plews) and loving father to Ron and Chris. He was the proud grandfather of Kristy and Kyle. Predeceased by his parents Vince and Nora Lynch (née Cassidy) and all of his 11 siblings, Joe was the last of his generation. He is survived by brother-in-law Larry Plews and wife Mary-Anne, and sister-in-law Maureen Cruickshank and husband Elmer. Joe will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Joe took pride in farming, tending to his hay and cattle, and cherished his years working for General Motors. A true Canadian at heart, he appreciated everything made in Canada. Known for his storytelling and quick wit, Joe supported his grandchildren in all their pursuits and never missed a hockey game. A longstanding member of the Friendship Group, Joe was a source of strength and wisdom to his family and community.

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Stacy Anne McNeil on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the age of 59 years. Stacy was born on April 12, 1965, in Newmarket, Ontario. Beloved mother of Courtney (Jordan) Crooks.
Predeceased by her parents, Dave and Nancy Coulter, and her brother David. Stacy is survived by her loving siblings, Janice (Steve) Cox and Dean (Jennifer) Coulter. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Stacy was a creative soul who loved anything artistic; she enjoyed coloring, working on puzzles, and often dreamed of writing a book. Stacy dedicated time volunteering at the local soup kitchen and the Muslim shelter, always ready to lend a helping hand. Those who knew her will remember her deep love for cats.
Stacy passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with addiction. She has now been given a fresh start, free from pain and struggle. May she rest in peace.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Karon Mary-Alice Shepperdson, who peacefully departed at Lakeridge Health at the age of 76. She was the cherished wife of the late Peter Shepperdson.
Karon is predeceased by her parents, Robert Ashmore and Madeline Williams. She leaves behind her beloved sons, Shawn and Bradley, as well as her loving siblings, Larry (Arlene) and Rose (John). She is also predeceased by siblings Douglas, Wilma, and Sharron-Rose. Karon was “Extra Mom” to Michael Martone (Ang) and John Salfi (Rebecca), both of Peterborough.
Karon is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and many members of her hockey, GensNation, and lacrosse families. Generals hockey and Green Gales lacrosse were a central part of Karon's life; she was a devoted Oshawa Generals fan and season ticket holder since the 1960s and President of the Booster Club since 1969. Known for her tradition of baking a “birthday pie” for each Generals player, Karon organized booster club buses for away games, bringing her “Let’s Go You Gennies” chant to fans across the Ontario Hockey League. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Clarington Green Gaels Lacrosse team, a testament to her passion for sports and community.
Visitation for Karon will take place at Oshawa Funeral Home, located at 847 King Street West, Oshawa, Ontario, on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Florence Charolette Mary Ostoupyz passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 29, 2024, at Glen Hill Strathaven - L.T.C., at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Anthony Ostoupyz and the late Mark William Guy, Florence was a devoted mother to Donald Guy (Brenda) and Robert Guy (Yvonne). She was a cherished grandmother to Jason Guy (Jamie), Kevin Guy (Melissa), Rebecca MacEachern (Travis), Lindsay Wells (Stephen), and Jacob Guy, and a beloved great-grandmother to Rikki, Maggie, Mackenzie, Tyler, Max, Elliot, Sean, Ophelia, Stevie, Clarissa, Isabella, Elijah, Alyssa, and Brooklyn.
Florence will be fondly remembered by her stepdaughter Liz Bond and family, as well as her extended family and friends.

Pamela Jeanne Olley
January 26, 1984 – October 27, 2024
Beloved mother, partner, daughter, sibling, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend, Pamela Jeanne Olley passed away peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on October 27, 2024, at the age of 40 due to a brain aneurysm. Affectionately known as “Looch” to her family and “Jukebox” to her friends, Pamela was known for her joy, resilience, and caring heart. Her love for music spanned decades, and she brightened countless lives with her songs and compassion. At eight years old, she played Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother in a school play, a role that captured her warm and loving spirit—qualities she carried throughout her life.
Pamela will live on through her organ donations, a final act of love. She is deeply missed by her daughter, Karys Smith, her partner, Alain Bertrand, her parents, Ruth and Greg Olley, her brother and sister-in-law, Kristoffer and Colleen Olley, her cherished nieces, Elora and Jocelyn, and her extended family. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Laura and Harry Olley, Mary and Tom Spencer, and Jean and Art Machmer.
The family would like to thank Dr. RV Stas, who helped bring Pamela into the world, and the doctors and staff at Peterborough RHC, who provided her with compassionate care.
A Memorial Service will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home, 847 King Street West, Oshawa, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, with visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and the service at 1:30 p.m. A celebration will follow at Oshawa Shrine Club, 1626 Simcoe St N, Oshawa. After a wonderful life shared with family and friends, filled with love, laughter, and happiness, we are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend, Diane Bruce. Diane’s passing leaves a large void in our hearts, and she will be forever loved and missed by her husband, Andrew; her sons, Andrew (Nicole), Jamie (Cindy), and Matthew (Sarah); her grandchildren, Lila, Ava, and Emma; her brothers, Michael (Anne-Marie), James (Nancy), and Douglas (Allison); and her sisters, Tanis (Michael) and Jennifer (Peter).
Diane’s passion for teaching began as a camp counselor and continued through her career as a Physical Education teacher after completing her degrees at Queen’s University. She taught at various schools in Durham Region, finding a home at O'Neill Collegiate and later at McLaughlin CVI. Known for her boundless energy, kindness, and support, Diane was an inspiration to her students and colleagues alike. She cherished the opportunity to coach her sons in cross country and track and field.
Following retirement, Diane continued to enjoy a full life, balancing sports, social events, and time spent at Balsam Lake and in Florida. Hosting family and friends, she showcased her decorating and design talents with joy and pride.
A celebration of Diane’s life will take place at the Oshawa Funeral Home on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service and reception at 2:00 p.m.

Peacefully, with her family by her side at Markham Stouffville Hospital on Thursday, October 17th, 2024, at 96 years of age, Vera Isabel Providence joined her beloved late husband, Minton. A devoted mother to Maxwell, Desilda, Miriam, and the late Urmin, she was a cherished Granny to Max-Ethan, Elton, Alex, Errolene, Delaurette, E.J., Alexandra, Andrew, Cassiopeia, Cleaon, Christopher, and Debbie, along with 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Vera was a dear sister to Marvin, Cecily, Avis, Brenda, and Oswalds. She will be fondly remembered by her extended family and many friends, who will miss her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit.

Jose Vicente Argueta
December 17, 1935 – October 21, 2024
Jose Vicente Argueta was born in El Salvador on December 17, 1935. In 1956, he met Berta Marina Espinoza, with whom he raised five children: Ana, Conchy, Armando, Isabel, and Martin. In 1982, due to challenging social conditions, the family relocated to Canada.
Known affectionately as “Abuelo,” Jose was beloved by all who knew him. He enjoyed repairing things and helping with household tasks. He shared a close friendship with God, prayed continually as encouraged in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, and read his Bible faithfully. His favorite hymn was “Far Beyond the Sun.”
On October 21, 2024, surrounded by family, Jose was called to rest by the Lord. He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Berta; five children; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; thirteen grandchildren: Alex (Erin), Tehani (Andrea), Tania (Matthew), Osmar (Marlene), Samuel, Francesca, Kevin, Anthony, Nathalie, Jose (Laura), Samuel (Sofia), Rosabel, and Christian; and nine great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, Ashton, Elliana, Nico, Matteo, Jaxxon, Leylani, Stephano, and Baby.
We hold the blessed hope of reuniting with him upon the Lord’s Second Coming. Maranatha!
