It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert Norman Smith announces his sudden passing on October 26, 2024. Robert was the beloved husband of Colleen Smith (née Emmerson) and a devoted father to Mike Smith (Julie), Jennifer Laird (Colin), and Sarah Shelswell (Tom). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Natalie, Maeva, Max, Wyatt, and Aubrey. Robert was predeceased by his parents, Leslie and Kathalene Smith, and is survived by his siblings George (Sharon), Aldon (Jay), Bruce (Diane), Donovan (Trudy), and Karen (Dave).
A graduate of the University of Guelph with a degree in Physics, Robert returned to his family’s High Point Farms, where he pursued his passion for Holstein breeding. His dedication and commitment to excellence earned him the prestigious Master Breeder Award four times, a remarkable testament to his skill and vision. In recent years, he continued building his legacy alongside his son, Mike. Robert was also a proud 4H leader, sharing his love of Holsteins with future generations, and was a devoted Grandpa, often cheering his grandchildren on at various sporting events.
