Wendy Elizabeth Furtney

Wendy Furtney passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, in her 71st year. She was predeceased by her parents, Cecil Furtney, a WWII Spitfire pilot, and Marguerite Furtney, a wartime “Rosie the Riveter” and later stay-at-home mother.

Within the loving embrace of her family, Wendy grew to be intelligent, independent, and kind. She had a successful career as a dedicated and trusted legal assistant, a position she held until the time of her death. Wendy was treasured by friends near and far for her thoughtfulness, gentle nature, and quick wit. One recent quip was her asking tea-loving friends if they traveled with spare kettles in their car trunks.

Wendy was renowned for her amazing dinner parties and her appreciation of a well-laid table. She had a generosity of spirit, an uncanny ability to listen without judgment, and to create moments of calm. She leaves behind a legacy of love, thoughtfulness, and the many memories she created.

Cremation has taken place. If desired, donations in Wendy’s memory may be made to the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children.
