Jean Porter-Gagnon, 74, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Windsor Campus on December 29, 2024, with her eldest daughter Kerri and loving fur-babies “Bebe” and “Mocha” by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late Philip Gagnon (2019). Loving mother of Kerri McNamara, Cindi McNamara-Kubicki (Steve), and Sean McNamara (Lisa). Cherished Nana to Brandon, Spencer, Kyle, Liam, and Finn.
Jean was the former wife of the late John McNamara (2012) and adored her step-children Michelle (John), Phil Jr. (Jen), Tom (Karen), and Laurie (Ray), as well as their children, grandchildren, and extended family.
She leaves behind her brothers Leonard and Lee (Cheryl), sister Shelley Younger (Brian), and was predeceased by her sister Irene Kennedy (late Jack). Auntie Jean was dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews.
Jean will be fondly remembered by her extended McNamara family, including her brother-in-law Michael (Catherine), and had a special friendship with her late sister-in-law Gail.
Born on February 20, 1950, in Toronto to the late William (Billy) and Sarah (Sally) Porter, Jean is survived by her stepmother Evelyn Porter.
She cherished her childhood in Toronto’s Cabbagetown neighborhood and later, Aurora, where she raised her young children with John.
In 1986, Jean moved to Windsor, building a new life filled with friends and family. Her marriage to Phil brought renewed energy, new relationships, and joy to her life.
Special thanks to her “super neighbours” and friends, Richard and Diane, as well as the passionate staff of the Hospice Windsor Campus, who provided her with outstanding and dignified care in her final days.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Jean’s life at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, St. Francis Mausoleum, on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
