Portrait of René Gagnon

René Gagnon

August 7, 1943 – November 28, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of René Gagnon on November 28, 2024, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family. René was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

René was the devoted husband of Fern for 59 wonderful years. He was the cherished father of Dan (Paula) and Brigitte (Paulette) and a proud Pépère to Joshua. René is survived by his dear siblings Rina (Bill) and Ginette (late Carl), and is predeceased by his siblings Armand and Norma (Paul). He will also be lovingly remembered by his in-laws Fernand, Lorraine (Roland), Jeaninne (Guy), and the late Roger, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

René retired after many years of dedicated service as a machine repairman with Chrysler, GM, and Ford. In his retirement, René found joy in travelling, golf, and above all, spending time with his family, who were his pride and joy.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the PSWs of Bayshore, VON, and the staff at WRH-Met Campus, especially in the Oncology and ICU units, for their compassionate care and support.

At René’s request, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Parish (462 Advance Blvd.), followed by interment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Donations in René’s memory may be made to the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation. Online condolences and cherished memories can be shared at www.windsorchapel.com.
