CRAWFORD, Gerald Alexander -
“Your guiding hand upon our shoulder will remain with us forever”
Born in Oshawa on September 13, 1926, Gerald was the much adored son of the late Emma Mildred Ramsay and Robert Abraham Crawford. He is the brother of Gwendolyn Kane.
Jerry met his bride of 68 years, Kathleen Isabelle Glover, in James’s Valley, East Whitby Township in 1945 while on a weekend leave from the army.
The couple married on July 19, 1947 at Christ Memorial Church, Oshawa.
Together they built their own home, raised their family, enjoyed summers at the lake, travelled throughout Canada and vacationed in Florida.
A devoted family man, Jerry is the Beloved “Dad” of Douglas Crawford (Penny), Janet Balser and Deborah Crawford (Dennis). He is “Grandpa” to 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Jerry was a very wise and creative man, he innately understood engineering without the benefit of any formal education - over his career he held many different positions with the City of Oshawa, OPUC and Region of Durham prior to his retirement in 1988.
In deteriorating health, with his beloved wife at his side, Jerry enjoyed his final summer at his favourite place on earth – his cottage in Fenelon Falls.
In the morning hours of Monday, November 9, 2015 in his 90th year he calming slipped away at Bowmanville Memorial Hospital.

Jerry’s family gathered in celebration of his life on Friday November 13th following his interment in Union Cemetery, Oshawa.
