Antonio Germanese
2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and nonno, Antonio, on October 16, 2024, at the age of 99. Antonio is now reunited with his beloved wife Nella and son Joseph (Maria).
He was a devoted father to Frank (Susanna), Augie (Cathy), Rosemary (Steve Paton), and Alex, and a cherished nonno to Patrick, Paul, John, Daniel, Michael, Jenna, Andrea, Anthony, Joya, Meagan, Michelle, Robert, Hailey, and Lindsey. Antonio was a loving nonno to 18 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Rosina, and siblings Vincenzo, Carmelina, and Maria, he is survived by his dear sister Teresa Barberio (Luigi). He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, and France.
Antonio immigrated to Canada in 1959 to build a new life with his family in Windsor, Ontario, though he never forgot his Italian roots. After a long and dedicated career, Antonio retired from Devonshire Mall in 1990. In his retirement, he took pride in his garden, especially his tomatoes, fig trees, and his immaculate lawn, where his grandchildren fondly remember him saying, “Get off my grass!” He was an avid sports fan, particularly cheering for the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs.
A special thank you to the staff at Chateau Park nursing home for their compassionate care of our father.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Transition to Betterness would be greatly appreciated by the family.
