Gerald Frederick Gilbert

October 6, 1943 - March 4, 2025

Gerald Frederick Gilbert passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025,
at Stratford General Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Stratford, he was the son of the late George and Thelma Wilhelmina Gilbert (née Schmidt).

Predeceased by his brother Lynn George Gilbert and sister-in-law Lois Gilbert (née Saunders).

Much loved uncle of Jennifer Glazier (Randy) of Dashwood,
Rod Gilbert (Tammy) of Cape Cod, Massachusetts,
and Susan Gilbert (Scott Elliot) of Mitchell.
Cherished great-uncle of Jaime Glazier (Kevin Metzger),
Shauna Glazier (Mike DaPonte), Abbie Gilbert, Amanda Gilbert,
Andrew Gilbert, Nolan Gilbert, and Zachary Elliot.
Great-great-uncle to Hailey Metzger, Jase Metzger, Aria DaPonte, Ellie DaPonte, and Jackson Lamanna.

Dear long-time friend of Naomi Treffry and Stephen Landers (partner, Constance Eaton).

Gerald was a lifelong resident of Stratford and a dedicated member of Elgin Missionary Church.
He worked with the Stratford Municipal Assessment Office starting in 1961,
later moving to the Ontario Municipal Office in Goderich, where he remained until retirement.

A devoted son, uncle, and friend, Gerald prioritized faith, family, and friendships above all else.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to Gerald’s visitation and funeral
on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Elgin Missionary Church,
4192 Perth Line 36, Stratford, ON N5A6S6,
from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Interment to follow at Avondale Cemetery. A luncheon will take place afterward at Elgin Missionary Church.
