Elizabeth “Betty” Gilchrist

June 2, 1939 - December 14, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Elizabeth “Betty” Gilchrist, née Willsher, a Chrysler retiree, on December 14, 2024, at the age of 85. Betty was born on June 2, 1939, and passed away peacefully at Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, surrounded by her loving sons, Randy (Dana) and Rick.

Betty was predeceased by her devoted husband of over 58 years, Jim, and her brothers, Bob (Lynda), Chuck (Joyce) and Dave (Diane). She is survived by her brother Ken (Sandy), who will cherish her memory. She was a loving grandmother to Katherine (Mike) and Paula (Jared), who will miss her dearly.
A talented folk artist, Betty was also known for creating beautiful, colourful crocheted blankets that brought warmth and joy to many.

A private prayer service will be held at a later date, at the Armstrong Funeral Home, located at 124 King St. East, Oshawa. Interment will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery on Taunton Rd in Whitby.

Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Betty's memory.

She will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and the love she shared with all who knew her. Rest in peace.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Armstrong Funeral Home.
