Elias (Louie) Gouvas

1945 – 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Elias (Louie) Gouvas, at the age of 79, on December 16, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

Elias was born on September 15, 1945, in Karpenissi, Greece, to loving parents Laskaris and Demitria Gouvas. He moved to Canada as a young man, where he met his loving wife Alice (May) of 47 years, while working at the Bo Peep Restaurant in the Oshawa Centre. He was retired from General Motors and has been the owner of several restaurants in the Durham Region.

Beloved father to the late Rick, Tim (Nicola), Ed (Elaine), Rob (Chris), Barb, Deb, and Dina. Proud Papa of his 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. Loving brother to the late Nick Gouvas and his wife Dina, and devoted uncle to Laskaris and Demitria. Cherished cousin and dearest friend to many.

Elias was a deeply social man, who loved to cook, grocery shop, and spend time with his large family and many friends. Throughout his life, Elias was known for his love, generosity, kindness, and never-ending support of those he loved. His devotion to his family and the Lord was evident in all that he did. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The visitation will take place on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, with the service to follow at 1:00 pm, held at De Stefano Funeral Home in Oshawa. The burial will follow at Thornton Cemetery in Oshawa.
