Barbara Joan Hicks (née Grigg)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Joan Hicks (née Grigg) on Friday, November 8, 2024, at ARCH Hospice in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Joan passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and care. She was the beloved wife of the late Ken Hicks and a devoted mother to John, Kenny (Emma), Chris, Matt (Jenae), and stepmother to Tami. She was a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, holding a special place in the hearts of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joan was the loving daughter of the late Jim and Jean Grigg and sister to Ed and the late Bob. She was predeceased by her in-laws: Norma Irvine (late Jim), Bill Hicks (Gail), John “Teddy” Hicks (Marcy), and Judy Donovan. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and close friends, including Palmer Maniacco Jr. and Rick Wing, Joan’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In accordance with Joan’s wishes, there will be no visitation or formal services. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer to honor her memory and the wonderful impact she had on those around her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at ARCH for their exceptional care and compassion. Memorial donations to ARCH Hospice in Joan's honor would be greatly appreciated.
