Harold "Pete" Hance
November 13, 1939 - February 17, 2025
In Loving Memory
Harold "Pete" Hance passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Bowmanville Hospital at the age of 85. Born to Maria (née Ward) and Harold Hance, Pete was the youngest of eight children, growing up alongside Frank, Vera, Bernice (Wilson), Jack, Joe, Dorothy (DiMaio), and Lily (Coakwell).
A lifelong resident of Oshawa, Pete attended OCVI and built a life defined by love, laughter, and dedication to family. He was the devoted husband of Marlene Hance (née Davidson), his childhood sweetheart since 1955 and loving partner in marriage for nearly 64 years. Together, they created a family that Pete cherished deeply.
Pete was a caring father to Mike Hance (Liz) and Kelly Tedesco (David) and a proud grandfather to Nicholas Tedesco (Brian), Tim Hance (Monique), and Michael Tedesco. In his younger years, Pete enjoyed sports, playing baseball, bowling, and golf. He was also a dedicated hockey coach, mentoring his son Mike's teams in both church and park leagues.
Pete worked at General Motors for 34 years, retiring from his role in the Reliability department of the paint shop. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humour, and his beloved "Dad jokes." He loved to make people laugh and never missed an opportunity to perform his famous "toonie" trick.
Above all, Pete’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a quiet, generous man who devoted himself to providing for and protecting those he loved.
