Mary (Little) Harrison

April 14, 1935 - April 9, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Harrison (née Little) on April 9, 2025, just five days short of her 90th birthday. Mary cherished her 65 years of marriage with Gordon, who passed away in 2021. She was a devoted and loving mother to Brian (Marilyn), June (Roger), and Blair (Irene).

Mary was a special grandmother to Melissa (Cam), Lisa (Mike), Lauren (Stephen), and Brooke (David), and a beloved great-grandmother to Sloane, Ella, Myles, and Lemy. She was predeceased by her sister Doreen but remained close with her brother Jack, enjoying their time and conversations together.

Born and raised in Beaverton, Mary was proud of her farming roots and of the life she built with Gordon on the Harrison family farm in Leaskdale. Alongside her work on the farm, Mary had a rewarding career as a teacher, having graduated from Teachers College at just 17. She taught in one-room schoolhouses and later at Zephyr and Scott Central Public Schools, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students.

Mary and Gordon were always ready for a game of euchre, loved to dance, and enjoyed traveling. Mary was known for her warm hospitality, hosting memorable gatherings at both the farm and the cottage, creating lifelong memories for family and friends. Her children and their friends are forever grateful for the joy and freedom she offered in her home.

Always selfless, Mary was quick to offer help to those in need. Her kind heart touched many, and in the end, it was her heart that gave out. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you gather with someone you love or consider making a donation to the Uxbridge Food Bank in her honour.

A private service will be held as per the family’s wishes. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Low and Low Funeral Home.
