DEMUTH, Henry "Harry" Gerhardt -
August 26, 1932 – April 6, 2024
Henry "Harry" passed peacefully, in his sleep at Orillia Soldier's Memorial Hospital on Saturday, April 6th, at the remarkable age of 91.
Harry was born in Thunder Bay in 1932 and was predeceased by his older sister, Delores.
He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Judy (Martin); daughter, Kristin; son, Colin (Jennifer); 3 amazing grandchildren: granddaughter, Taryn and grandsons, Mason and Ryder.
His sister, Helen; and the Love side of the family will remember times spent in Windsor.
Harry found teaching, his professional calling after time spent at the Western business school, and the University of Toronto, for his English degree.
He was a valued and respected teacher at East York Collegiate for over 30 years, as head of the English department and a Teacher of the Year.
He loved time spent with family and friends in Guildwood, at Maple Leaf Estates, and mostly at Plum Point, where he and Judy spent several years with Stan and Dorothy Martin and the extended Martin clan. He and Judy enjoyed many years curling at Tam Heather and the Orillia Curling Club.
Harry was a quiet, gentle man who loved his family above all.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 14th, at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m.
The family would also like to invite everyone to a time of Reception at Mundell Funeral Home following the Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Orillia Soldier's Memorial Hospital Foundation, where Harry received excellent care.
