With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James William Hood (JNR). On March 17, 2025, James, at the age of 56, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family. Born on September 14, 1968, in Glasgow, Scotland, to loving parents James and Mary Hood.

A carpenter by trade, James spent over thirty years partnered with his dad in the home renovations field. He was known for his skill and creativity, always dedicated to helping his customers’ visions come to life. His attention to detail and passion for craftsmanship left a lasting impression in the homes and hearts of many.

Fishing was his greatest passion. An avid fisherman, James was always ready for an impromptu trip to the water—his gear never far from reach. He found peace in the quiet of the lake, always in search of calm waters and the thrill of the catch.

James is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; his two sons, Alexander (Elise) and Gary (Kristen); and his stepson, Jake. He will be forever remembered by his parents, James and Mary Hood; his sister Carol (Dave); and his nephews Daniel (Danielle), Derek, and Jeffrey (Ashley). Also lovingly remembered by his great-nieces, Hannah and Hailey.

Words cannot express his family’s gratitude for the care and support shown by the staff of the Critical Care Unit at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Their compassion and kindness brought comfort in James's final days.

In memory of James, donations may be made to the City of Oshawa Animal Services in honour of his gentle spirit and love for animals.
