Bryan Edward Hope
June 25, 1951 - January 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Bryan Hope at home on January 2, 2025. Bryan was born in Toronto on June 25, 1951, to parents Doris and Clarence Hope. He grew up in Oakville.
Bryan is survived by his loving wife Mary Ellen of 37 years. Loving father of Brandon (Megan) and Dylan (Jessica). Beloved grandpa of Sienna. Dear brother of Janice, Shelley, and special cousin to Kim (Eric). Brother-in-law to Anne (Paul) Gamble and Paul Gravelle. Uncle and best friend to many nieces and nephews.
Bryan learned the love of the outdoors, mechanics, marinas, and the lake while living with his Aunt Eve and Uncle Dave Agnew at the Anchorage Marina on Jacks Lake. This love continued when he moved to Huntsville and met the love of his life, Mary Ellen. They married and were blessed to have two sons that he was so proud of.
He worked at Port Cunnington Marina on Lake of Bays and then started his own successful business – Bryan’s Boat Works, where he took great pride in caring for his customers. He was a gifted mechanic and woodworker with a passion for hunting, fishing, and snowboarding. In his early years, he backpacked across Europe and hitchhiked to California. The love of travel continued with his many travel adventures with Mary Ellen. He also loved his years coaching hockey and baseball and being a trainer for Huntsville Minor Hockey.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, and in lieu of flowers, donations to Princess Margaret Hospital or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada would be appreciated.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Billingsley Funeral Home.
