Jak Jabes

On Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, we mourn the passing of Jak Jabes. He was the devoted son of the late Leon and Esti Jabes and beloved husband of 50 years to Vicky.

Loving father to Jascha (Eliane) and Boris (Monica). Dear brother of Rachel Farhi, and cherished brother-in-law of the late Jack Farhi, Bernard, and Linette Cohen. Devoted Papi to Jack and Max.

Jak will be deeply missed by his extended family, including nieces, nephews, and cousins: Kristelle, Rita, Michael, and Charles. He will also be fondly remembered by his many friends, colleagues, and students around the world.

Jak’s remarkable career spanned academia and numerous international organizations, leaving a lasting impact on many. His life and work inspired those fortunate enough to know him.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at Princess Margaret Hospital for their compassionate care.
