GRAY, James Inglis - Born July 18, 1934 in Scotland.
He reluctantly immigrated to Canada in 1955 with his parents and younger sisters, Evelyn and Angela. He met a Scottish lass, Eileen, who also immigrated with her parents and sister.
He passed away on November 21, 2023, at the age of 89.
Inglis and Eileen were marred at Kingston Road United Church on August 23, 1955.
Linda was born in 1956, followed by Kenneth (1960) and Lesley (1962). He bought his first bakery in Scarborough in 1966 and had various Scottish bakeries in Scarborough.
He never stopped baking. He played, coached, managed and sponsored soccer teams. He learned to play golf in his 50s and had many group trips to Myrtle Beach. After his retirement, he participated in the administration of St. Paul's United Church. His favourite holiday was Robbie Burns Day and for years, he organized the dinner at the church. Eileen passed away in 1987. He married Cynthia in 1988.
She passed away in 2012. He has 7 grandchildren: Erica, Alex, Tara, Shane, Camille, Lesley (deceased) and Ashley; and many, many great-grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters and brothers-in-law: Evelyn and Jim, and Angela and Les. Inglis resided at McCowan Retirement Residence for 4 years.
It became home and he was very happy and comfortable. The staff were remarkable and took very good care of him for which we are truly thankful.
We will all miss him.
