APPLETON, John - December 29, 1938 - July 2, 2022
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Appleton at the age of 83.
John was a courageous fighter but succumbed to cancer after a 12 year battle.
A longtime employee of IBM, a winning coach of soccer, rugby and hockey in Scarborough and Lindsay.
He enjoyed his time building their cottage in Muskoka, singing in numerous choirs, playing golf at Lindsay and IBM courses and aspired to be a better bridge player.
Born in Sandford, growing up in Parkdale, John is the son of the late Kathleen and Jack Appleton.
Loved husband of Barbara for almost 64 years and proud father of David (Tammy), Richard, Cheryl (Kate). He was also cherished by his grandchildren, Corey, and Shaun and Barb's kitten, Tiger. Survived by his brothers, Richard, and Robert; and sister, Irene.
John is predeceased by his grandson, Ryan; and brothers, Grant, Norman, Gordon and Allan.
Services to celebrate the life of John will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 45 Russell Street W, Lindsay on Saturday, July 9th, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. followed by a service at noon.
