Arvilla, aged 92 years, passed away peacefully at home with loving family by her side after a long and fulfilling life. Beloved wife of the late Donald Jonah (2020).
Loving mother of Gwen Werry (Richard), Martha Pettit and Colin Jonah (Debbie). Cherished grandma to Sean (Laryssa), Eric, Mac (Kenzie) and Brooke (Brian). Adored Gigi of Lincoln, Bailey, Addison and newest addition Cooper.
Predeceased by parents Ron and Vera Bovaird.
Survived by sister Jeanette.
Predeceased by brothers Eugene and Keith and sister Arleen. Treasured Aunt and friend to many.
Her departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on forever.
Arvilla was born on May 15, 1932 in Saint John, New Brunswick before moving to Oshawa, Ontario and marrying Donald. In the early '70s, they made their home on a rural property in Enniskillen, relishing the tranquility of the countryside for over 50 years.
Her life was marked by grace and compassion. Arvilla was devoted to her family, consistently prioritizing their needs above her own and cultivating a home brimming with warmth and joy. She dedicated countless hours to the garden and worked diligently to keep her home neat and orderly.
As a mother, Arvilla was a guiding light, providing her children with unconditional love and encouragement. Her gentle spirit and nurturing nature were evident in every hug, every shared story, and every piece of advice she gave.
As a grandmother, she was a source of endless love and laughter. Her grandchildren, fondly remember the countless hours spent in her company. Her legacy of love will continue to inspire them throughout their lives.
As a great-grandmother, Arvilla brought joy to a new generation. Her great-grandchildren, will always hold dear the moments they shared with their loving great-grandmother, who never missed an opportunity to shower them with affection.
Her kindness and selflessness touched many lives, and her memory will forever be cherished.
A special thank you to the PSWs of St. Elizabeth and Bowmanville Hospital for their care over the past few years and to the PSWs at Community Care Durham and nurses at ParaMed for ensuring her wishes to pass peacefully at home were fulfilled with care and compassion.
A celebration of Arvilla's life will be held on Thursday, August 1 at Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 21 Garrard Road (North of Hwy 2)Whitby, ON 905-443-3376. Visitation at 1:30 PM followed by a Service at 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation, an organization close to her heart.
Though Arvilla is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. Her life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
