1933 – 2024
On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, after 91 years of life, Eleanor Joseph passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, and made her way into the arms of our loving Heavenly Father. Eleanor was born on March 8, 1933 in Codrington, Barbuda (Antigua).
She spent her early years in Barbados and after graduation moved to England before finally settling in Canada. In 1972, she met her beloved husband Earl Joseph with whom she shared 48 years of wonderful marriage.
Eleanor joined the Federal Government and worked for Agriculture Canada as a Records Management Specialist.
Her love of knowledge and facts led her to later complete a degree in Records and Information management from Seneca College.
After retiring, Eleanor became a part-time Librarian in her home town of Pickering, Ontario, sharing her passion for books and became part of the Reading Circle Program encouraging youths in the community to enhance their reading skills.
Eleanor was a woman of extraordinary Christian faith and devotion. Every day, without fail, she studied the teachings of The Bible. But, more importantly, she put those teachings into practice. She was loved for her compassion, generosity, kindness and never-ending willingness to help others. Now she rest in the hands of our Lord.
His faithful, humble and devoted servant. Eleanor’s family would like to express their deepest thanks to the ICU staff at Ajax-Pickering Hospital as well as the V!VA Pickering Retirement Residence for their many years dedicated care and support.
Eleanor now rests at the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME, where family and friends will be received for visitation on Friday, June 28 from 4-8 p.m.
Flowers can be sent to the McEACHNIE FUNERAL HOME. A second viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the Melville Presbyterian Church, on Saturday, June 29. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. After the service, family and friends are invited to a reception with refreshments. Following the reception, interment will be held at the Erskine Cemetery.
