MERCER, Joseph Francis - Peacefully joining God and his loving wife Kathleen in Heaven, with family by his side on November 18, 2015 after a courageous battle with Cancer at the age of 79.
Predeceased by his father Ralph, Mother Alice, Sister Elizabeth (Forbes).
Survived by his sister Winnifred (Guyton), Brother in Law to Gladys and Jim Avola and Murray and Barbara Forbes.
Joseph (Joe) was ‘Dad to 10’; Maureen (Bill) Colleen, Kathleen (Marc), Correen, Julie (Gerry), Steven (Judy), Matthew (Jennifer), Bernadette (Gary), Lisa (Mike) and Jason (Tina).
Proud ‘Poppa’ to 16 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Joseph attended St. Brigids School in Toronto, went on to High School at St. Michaels College.
Having had a successful business with Imperial Oil, he went on to run his own Automotive Service Repair Business.
When he ended that venture he continued part time at Road Runner Equipment Ltd until he was 77 years old.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Father Charles Forget, Dr. Ariah Schattner, Dr. Leta Forbes, Dr. Adaku Azi, Nurses Julie, Anita, Joyce and Rebecca as well as all nurses and volunteers at Lakeridge Health Cancer Centre. Further appreciation to Dino at ACCETTONE FUNERAL HOME in Ajax.
A special thank you to friends Hilda; Isabell and Dick; Nephew Ken; Bill, Cindy, Madison and Jenna. The prayers from all his friends at St. Leo's Parish certainly helped in our time of need.
He spent the last years of his life with incredible devotion to his wife Kathleen in her battle with cancer. It was only after her passing that his symptoms took over and has now joined his true love in the dance of eternal life.
Cremation has taken place.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on December 1, 2015, 11:00 am at St. Leo's Parish, 130 Watford St, Brooklin.
