ROSS, June Alice (nee MEYER) - June Alice Ross (nee Meyer) born June 7, 1924.
Passed away on December 29, 2020, at Etobicoke General Hospital, with her family at her side.
Mom was born on a farm, near Elmwood, Ontario, and grew up there with her parents, Adolph and Lydia and brothers, Glen and Lloyd.
Graduating from Hanover High School at 16, she was too young for Teacher's College.
Her career began in St. Mary's, Ontario, and ended up in Thistletown, Ontario. Along this journey she met and married our dad, Arthur Ross, enjoying a 62-year marriage that ended with Dad passing in 2013.
Together with our grandfather, they built their home in Thistletown, a community that they embraced and were active members of.
Mom continued and enjoyed living there for 70 years, right up until her passing. The advent of daughter Jane ended her teaching career; Jane was followed by Sandy, Graeme and finally Janet, all within 6 years.
Despite the demands of family life, mom loved being active outdoors.
She loved golfing, achieving several holes in one and curling with lifelong friends and neighbours, her rink achieved a prized Masters level win. She was often seen cross-country skiing along the Humber River. She also enjoyed working with her hands; sewing, leather work, and drawing, as well as taking on many roles with her Church.
She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, aunt, friend; and she set the gold standard for being a mother and will be sorely missed. She is survived by daughters, Jane (Tony), Janet (Iain), and sons Sandy (Lorraine) and Graeme (Laurie).
Junie was loved and beloved by her grandchildren, TJ, Alastair, Graeme, Carolyn, Caia, Kirsten, Tali, and Aleks plus great-grandchild Emma.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. We love you mom.
