Henry Delma "Del" Kendrick
1940 – February 19, 2025
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Henry Delma "Del" Kendrick in his 85th year. Del resided at St. Lawrence Lodge in Brockville for over 12 years, enjoying a view of the St. Lawrence River.
Despite being confined to a wheelchair, Del never complained and was always a pleasure to visit. He was well cared for by the staff, and his family cherished the moments spent celebrating birthdays, Christmas, and Easter with him, overlooking the river and watching the ships pass by.
Born and raised in Shag Harbour, Del took great pride in his upbringing. He left home at 14 to complete his education in Kentville, living with his cousin Doris Trask and attending high school where his Uncle Doug was principal. He later graduated from Acadia University with a degree in Chemistry, leading to a career at Du Pont and Casco.
Del was an avid collector of coins, stamps, and antique glassware. His passions extended to cooking, playing cards, tennis, and gardening. His gardens were carefully designed with rocks he collected from Shag Harbour, Bon Portage, and Lake Huron.
He loved returning home to Shag Harbour in the spring and summer to visit family, golf, and explore the shoreline.
Del will be missed by his sister Priscilla (Sid) and Doug, brother David (Geraldine), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Edna (Shand), sister Peggy (Lloyd Brown), and infant sister Dawn Marie.
The family expresses their deep gratitude to Larry Shand and Pat Allport for their visits and support.
A private family gathering to celebrate Del’s life will take place in the fall.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Irvine Memorial.
