ZAFFINA, Barbara Isidora - Mrs. Barbara (Isidora) Zaffina age 81 years of 1035 Springfield Drive, Kingston passed away while in hospital on October 19, 2015.
Born in Rovito, Province of Cosenza, Italy, she came to Canada in 1955 and settled with her parents and siblings in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Ontario. In 1959 she married the late Salvatore Zaffina and became a dedicated mother and grandmother. In 1997, Barbara moved with her husband to Toronto and then Kingston following his passing.
She is survived by daughters Joyce Brown and Anna Zaffina, son-in-law, Wayne Brown, grandsons David Brown, Patrick Brown and Micaele Zaffina, brothers Frank, Carmen and Mike Groccia, many nieces and nephews, aunt and uncle, Amelia and Sam Arnone.
Predeceased by parents Maria and Pietro Groccia.
A heartfelt thanks to the nurses, residents, physicians and support staff at the Kingston General Hospital particularly in the Emergency Room, Davies 4 and Kidd 9 Units for their excellent and professional care and warm support.
In keeping with Barbaras wishes cremation will be followed with a Liturgy of the Word service in the Chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, Ontario on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2:30pm. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm -2:15 pm before the service.
For those who wish donations may be made to the U.H.K.F. (Kingston General Hospital) in Barbara's memory.

WHAN, Ronald Arthur - Born June 27, 1949 (Former employee of Northern Telecom)
Passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 18, 2015 in his 67th year.
Predeceased by his parents Lawson and Winnifred Whan.
Dear brother to Norma Granlund (Allan), Arnold Whan (late Rorie), and Sidney Whan (Pauline). Uncle to Floyd Granlund, Randy Granlund (Tracy), Robert Whan (Gloria), and Teresa Cotnam (Jeff). He will be missed by many great nieces, nephews family and friends.
Ronald is resting at TROUSDALE FUNERAL HOME in Sydenham. Cremation.
A private graveside service will be held for family and close friends.
A celebration of life will be held for Ronald at a later date.

TAKACS, Etelka 'Ethel' (nee Schiller) - Peacefully at Providence Manor with family at her side, on Sunday, October 18, 2015, in her 87th year.
Etelka (nee Schiller), beloved wife of Ferenc (Frank) Takacs, who predeceased her in 1992.
Loving mother of Aniko Juozapaitis (Wally), Klara "Susie" Brunet (Guy), and Viktoria Barnes (Mark Bergin).
Affectionately known as "Nana" to her beloved grandchildren, Erin, Rory, Conor, Emily and Maureen. Also remembered by her family in Hungary, including her sister Erzsebet, nieces Judit and Edina, as well as extended family .
The family extends grateful appreciation for the exemplary care, kindness and compassion shown to Etelka by her caregivers at Providence Manor during her stay.
The family will receive friends at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, Kingston, Ontario on Tuesday, October 20, between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
The Liturgy of the Word will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, October 21 at 10:30 am., with The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Lynch officiating. A reception will follow in the Reception Centre. The Rite of Committal with Prayers will be privately attended by the family.

STEPHENSON, Ruth Anne - Of Napanee, passed away peacefully at the Lennox and Addington County Hospital on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at age 75.
Born in Ingersoll, Ontario on October 9 1940, Ruth Anne was the only child of the late John Henry (Harry) Stephenson and Anne Pitt. Prior to moving to Napanee, she lived on the family farm in North Oxford Township and in Toronto. She attended schools in Ingersoll and London and graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto on May 31, 1991.
A lover of art and animals (especially her cats), Ruth Anne was: born to be wild; born to be outrageous; born to be a dreamer; and born to make the world a better place by being herself.
Cremation has taken place. Burial will be with her father in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Ingersoll at a later date.

MARLIN, Earl Stanley C.D., LLB - April 18, 1933 - October 18, 2015
Peacefully at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital with Mary Lou (nee Sutherland), his wife of 59 years at his side.
Dear father of Karen Marlin (Steven Ferner) of Edmonton, Beth Marlin of Aurora, and Don Marlin (Carolyn) of Ottawa.
Devoted grandfather of Michelle Malar, Jackie Ferner and Robert Ferner; Douglas and David Sooley; and Nicholas, Hannah and Ben Marlin. Survived by his sisters Patricia Shaw and Laurel Hamilton, both of Chilliwack.
Predeceased by his sister Thora Menin and brother Allyn Marlin.
Earl proudly served with the Canadian Armed Forces between 1951 and 1982. He then furthered his education earning a Law Degree from Queen's University. He then practised in Kingston until his retirement in 1998.
Following cremation, a Memorial Service in Celebration of Earl's life will be held in the Chapel of the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, Kingston, Ontario on Thursday, October 22, at 1:30 pm.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 pm to 1:20 pm, and during a reception in the Reception Centre at the conclusion of the service.
