DECKER, John Merritt - On Thursday, July 19, 2018, in his 77th year, Merritt passed away suddenly at his beloved cottage at Buck Lake, ON.

Predeceased by parents, Fred and Charlotte Decker, brother Horace Decker and nephew, Tyler.

Brother of Allan (Judy) and Ralph (Cheryl) Decker, all of Kingston and cousin, Doan Sterling (Harry), of London, ON.

He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews; John, Karen, Deborah, Robert, Greg, Stephen, Kelly and Lora Jane Decker, as well as his step-daughters, Allison and Yvonne Montreil, Louise Piazza, Caroline Gaynor and Naomie Black.

Visitation will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home, Kingston, on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service in the chapel at 11:00 am. Following the service, there will be a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, in memory of Merritt.

WORKMAN, Dr. Donald G.  - May 25, 1936 - July 19, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Donald G. Workman at KGH in Kingston on July 19th.

Don is survived by Kayrene Workman, his wife of 58 years, three children, their spouses and 10 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Parkinson Canada.

A celebration of Don's life will be held at The University Club, 168 Stuart St., Kingston, ON, on Monday, August 6th from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Gallagher DonnaGALLAGHER, Donna Lois - Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the age of 77 at Kingston General Hospital.

Predeceased by her sister Polly and her parents Donald Gallagher from Nova Scotia and Pauline Pendleton from Maine.

Beloved partner for 34 years of Reinolde (Renee) van Weringh.

Dear sister-in-law of Klaas van Weringh (Jo Stanley), Janet van Weringh (Jim Svoboda), and Lucy van Weringh, predeceased (Gilles Garcia).

Dear friend of Leslie Dal Cin, Colette Steer, and Liz Taylor-Panighel.

Dear cousin of Dianne Williams and her daughter Stacy Gijsbers (David), and cousin-in-law of Jinke van Weringh (Henk Lyklema).

She will be remembered fondly by nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States, especially John, Devon, Nicolas, Jeannine, and Anna.  

Donna has had many friends and admirers in this city throughout the years, whether colleagues and students from her teaching and coaching days at Queen’s University, companions in the women’s community, clients from her post-retirement garden consulting business, or intrepid dog-walkers braving all kinds of weather.

She was an inspiration and a loving friend to many. She will be greatly missed.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, July 26, 5 pm to 8 pm at the Reception Centre of James Reid Funeral Home, Kingston. Words of remembrance to begin at 7:15.

No flowers please, but  donations in Donna’s memory may be made to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre and would be greatly appreciated.  

Interment of ashes in Cataraqui Cemetery will take place at a future time .

Reid IdaREID, Ida Joan - Passed away peacefully at Trillium Ridge on July 18, 2018 at the age of 91.

Beloved wife for 70 years of the late Carman.

She is fondly remembered by daughters Diana (Alan) Newman, Karen (late Walter) Westcott and Joyce (Brian) Joyce, missed by grandchildren Mark, Denise (Deron), Lori, Amy (Steve), Randy (Julie), Craig, Paul (Annie), and great grandchildren Owen, Garret, Jordan, Sophia, Aidan, Dane, Declan, Nathan, Ella and Noah, and survived by many nieces and nephews.

Dearly remembered by brother Ronald (late Betty) and sister-in-law Hazel Williams and their families.

Predeceased by brother Keith, son-in-law Walter Westcott and grandson Pat Westcott.

Daughter of the late Sidney and Helen (Harrison) Williams.

Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of the Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 435 Davis Drive (Centennial Dr. and Taylor-Kidd Blvd) on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.

Loving mother of Richard Johnson of northern Alberta.

Dear daughter of the late Thomas and Jeanne (Levesque) Morin and daughter-in-law of the late William “Bill” and Judith “Judy” (Laverdiere) Johnson.

Cherished sister in law of Marie “Burr” Johnson Lamoureux of Vankleek Hill, Edward “Ed” Johnson (Barbara) of Prescott, William “Bill” C.V. Johnson (Susan) of Ottawa and James “Jim” Johnson (Rose) of Nova Scotia.

Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Myers PhylipMYERS, Phylip Karl - 1948 - 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Phylip Karl Myers.

He will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend Gerry, his daughters Stephanie (Peter), Allyson (Joe) as well as his step children Bill (Maeve), David (Tammy) and Joanne (David), his grandchildren and step grandchildren Quinn, Molly, Emma, Ryan, Alanna, Ian, Brooke and Rachel and his brother John.

He is predeceased by his parents Earl and Jean Myers.

Phyl's final days were spent surrounded by his family and wonderful friends as he continued to beam his contagious smile that was occasionally interrupted by heaping spoonfuls of vanilla ice cream.

A special thank you to his wonderful neighbours on Monterey Court for their love and support.

In keeping with Phyl's wishes cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Powell DoraPOWELL, Dora May (nee Morrison) - Passed away peacefully at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the age of 84.

Dora leaves behind her loving husband John of 65 years.

Devoted mother of Gregory Powell (Steacy) of Kingston, Karen Dixon (Chris) of Napanee, and Sherri Hampton (Steve) of Seeley's Bay.

Proud and cherished nan of Lucas, Cody, Taylor, Kaitlan (Joe), Sydney, Kenzie, Kylie and Aliah.

Beloved sister of Ernie Morrison (Shirley) and sisters-in-law Jean Powell (Don), and Bonnie Patrick.

Dora will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews many other relatives and her life long friend Dorothy Kelly.

She is predeceased by her parents Harry and Hazel Morrison, and brother Don Morrison.

Visitation will be held at the Wartman Funeral Home - Napanee Chapel on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., followed by her funeral service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m.

Memorial donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Dora's memory would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Robertson WilmaROBERTSON, Wilma Pauline - Passed away peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital on Tuesday July 17, 2018 at the age of 93.

Wilma Robertson (nee Earl), beloved wife of the late Earl Robertson.

Much loved mother of Rob Robertson and his wife Susan of Ottawa.

Cherished grandmother of Rachel and Devon.

Predeceased by 2 sisters Audrey Tamblyn and Helen Warwick.

Cremation has taken place.

A Memorial service will be held at the Fox Run Retirement Home at a later date. 

Thanks to Dr. Brian Hart for his many years of compassionate treatment, to the staff of Connell 9 at KGH for their excellent care, to the ownership and staff of Fox Run for their great friendship and encouragement, and to Wilma’s niece Janice Medcalf for her unfailing love and support.

Cathie is also survived by sisters Linda MacDonald and Mary Lee Nadon of Brockville. 

Predeceased by her parents Allan and Ruth Joy (nee Harkness). 

At Cathie’s request, cremation will take place with interment at a later date.
