Jones JamesJONES, James Peter - At the age of 87 years, passed away peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on Saturday, July 14, 2018.

Beloved husband of Dorothy. Survived by son, Peter of Toronto, ON and grandson, Peter Michael Jones also of Toronto, ON.

Born in Lethbridge Alberta, James Peter Jones joined the RCMP and wore the red serge and Stetson before answering God's call to the ministry.

He met his wife Dorothy while studying in Montreal. They have two sons, David and Peter.

After service in pulpit ministry in several prominent Presbyterian churches, he and Dorothy moved to Brockville and James Peter became assistant to their son David at First Presbyterian. He served as pastoral and visitation minister. Daily he made home and hospital visits to offer a spiritual dimension to shut-ins throughout the area. His prayer and comfort eased the distress and discouragement of many of our members.

At funerals, he took time to understand the loss and personal grief of the survivors. His pulpit ministry was extraordinarily meaningful with his deep understanding of theology and commitment to life in Christ.

His contribution to the life of First Presbyterian Church in Brockville is enormous and his continued presence as a congregant and advisor is much needed as the church is restored and reborn under a new minister.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of James Peter's life at First Presbyterian Church, 10 Church Street, Brockville on Saturday July 21st at 1:30 pm.
