Robert Knaggs

October 20, 1948 - March 11, 2025

Robert Knaggs passed away March 11th, 2025, at the Owen Sound Hospital surrounded by his children. He was 76. He spent the last 17 years without his wife and best friend, Marlayne, and we know they will have found each other again, wherever they are.

He was loved and will be deeply missed by his daughters Kristen and Kendra (Matt) and son, Jeff (Lisa). His love for his grandkids was immeasurable. River, Indy, and Harlowe sparked an infinite joy in him. Predeceased by his parents (John and Laura) and siblings (Donelda, Betty, Lois, John, and Katy), he will be missed by his numerous nieces and nephews.

Growing up in Owen Sound, Bob moved to Brampton, raised a family, and spent his working life at Nortel until retiring back to Owen Sound in 2005. Throughout his life, he was an example of what it means to show up for your family. He worked hard, raising his kids to do the same. He loved coaching hockey and baseball and spent hours watching his kids play all the sports. He showed up for recitals, and school concerts – singing O Canada the loudest, and made so many airport trips. His best moments were spent in the waves and on the sand at Sauble Beach and two-stepping with Marlayne.

He loved cutting grass (perfectly), growing tomatoes and giant dahlias, and watching his kids and grandkids play in the backyard from his deck. He completed all the Sun Times crosswords and came up with the funniest Balderdash answers you’ve ever heard. When he laughed, he laughed hard. After Marlayne passed, he learned to cook an exceptional turkey and take on things he never had to before. He showed up. He did his best. He did everything he could to stick around when he got sick. He loved Oh Henry! bars, bacon and tomato sandwiches, Double-Dessert and going for a drive. His love was on display through his actions. His presence will be so deeply missed. “It’s just a beautiful life.”

Private arrangements entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
