Edward Blake Konkle
April 12, 1929 - November 14, 2024
The Konkle family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Edward Blake Konkle on November 14, 2024, at the age of 95. Known fondly as Blake, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love and dedication to his family and community will never be forgotten.
Blake is survived by his five children: E. Blake Jr. (Patricia d. 1981) (Sharon), Scott (Vi), Ted (Karen), Pamela Moore, and Jennifer (Dan) Poursanidis. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to many. He was predeceased by his wives Reta Joan (Parker) Konkle (1987) and Patricia Shannon (Louth) Konkle (2007).
Born and raised on a peach farm on Lincoln Avenue in Beamsville, Blake’s early interest in electricity led him to join Bousfield Electric, where he wired homes for several years. His career progressed to Thompson Products (later TRW) in St. Catharines, where he serviced automotive parts machinery and worked until his retirement in his early 50s.
Blake’s retirement was filled with activities he loved, including golf, which he enjoyed into his 80s, hunting, and fishing. From fishing for perch as a boy in Jordan Harbour to hunting moose in Chapleau, his passion for the outdoors was a lifelong pursuit.
A dedicated member of his community, Blake volunteered for decades with the Beamsville Fire Department, retiring as Fire Chief. He extended this dedication to his workplace, serving as Fire Chief for the TP/TRW firemen.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Woodland and his team at the Beamsville Medical Clinic, as well as the staff at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, for their compassionate care.
A private memorial service will be held by the family. Those wishing to honor Blake’s memory may consider planting a tree in his name. Please visit the Tree Store for more details.
