On April 4, 2025, Helen Kotes peacefully passed away in her sleep at the young age of 100.
Born on May 20, 1924, Helen, also known as Mom, Lencha, and Baba, was born in Scopia, Greece. Daughter of Tome Storoumos and Mitra Traitsis, youngest sister to Christos, Norman, Perry, Dora, and Tasa. Wife of Paul Kotes (deceased), mother of Thomas (Nadine), grandmother of Adriana (Kevin), David (Kim), Julia (Kile), and Suzanne (Mike); great-grandmother of Caleb, Grace, Gabbi, Georgia, Hudson, Reid, Oliver, and Felicity.
Helen immigrated to Canada with Paul and Tom in 1950. She worked at Philco Ford Company making car radios. After years of being employed, Helen decided to stay home and look after her family full time.
Once Tom was married to Nadine and the grandchildren came along, she continued to devote her time in being a loving grandmother. She had a passion for cooking, crocheting, and gardening. She loved her vegetable garden and flowers. Her guilty pleasures were watching Jerry Springer and Judge Judy.
She was always generous and showed great love towards her grandchildren and great-grandchildren by spoiling them with kisses, hugs, candy and chocolates.
Only a month away from her 101st birthday, Helen experienced a lifetime of change. She will always be remembered with love, and may she rest in the arms of God.
