Anna Kuzniak

1959 – 2024

It is with profound sadness that the Kuzniak family announces the passing of beloved wife and mother Anna Kuzniak, who passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the age of 65 after a brief, hard-fought battle with cancer. Anna was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing. Her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her, and her absence will be profoundly mourned by family and friends.

Anna is survived by her loving husband, Henry, and devoted children, Evelynne and Lucas. Born in Białystok, Poland, Anna cherished summers and holidays at the family cottage in the village of Horodnianka. As an only child, she was especially close to her beloved cousins, Tadeusz and Ania. Anna valued her classmates and fostered lifelong connections, often bringing them together through reunions.

In her early 20s, Anna courageously sought a better life, leaving communist Poland. After a year in Vienna, she immigrated to Canada, warmly welcomed by her family in Kingston. In Toronto, Anna worked as a nanny before answering a classified ad for a translator, which led her to meet and marry Henry in 1982. Together, they built a life of love and adventure, welcoming Evelynne in 1987 and Lucas in 1994, completing their family.

Anna had an artist's soul and a creative spirit. She infused her vibrant paintings with passion and skill and applied her talent across various mediums, from food to fabric and beyond. An avid traveler, Anna immersed herself in the food, art, and culture of places like England, Scotland, Lithuania, Switzerland, Dubai, and Cyprus. She was known for her culinary critiques, always ensuring the dishes she encountered were seasoned to perfection.

Anna found peace and joy in nature. She loved foraging for wild berries, mushrooms, and plants, sharing this sacred tradition with her children and preserving a connection to her ancestors. Her vast knowledge of foraging spanned generations and brought her happiness and pride.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Anna’s name.
