The family announces with sorrow the death of Ernest "Ernie" Lapierre in Sturgeon Falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the age of 79 years. Son of the late William “Bill” and the late Lillian (née Turpin). Beloved spouse of Nicole Philion. Loving father of Jody Quick (Mike), Kirk (Tina), and stepfather of Paul and Angele Philion (Will).
He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Blake, Mackenzie, Jessica, Claude, Michael, Leo, Chase, Bella, and great-grandchildren Delilah, Dalton, Koda, Tyson, Kolton, Tristan, Imari, Emmett, Jackson, and Mason. Brother of Joy Beange (Doug). Predeceased by his brothers Gilbert (Jackie) and David (Gloria). Also dearly missed by his loyal canine companion, Teddy.
A man of great humor and heart, Ernie was known for his endless jokes and ability to make everyone around him laugh (or groan!). His wit and lighthearted spirit brought joy to countless moments, and he could always be counted on to lift the mood with his infectious sense of humor. No gathering was ever dull with him around, and his laughter will forever echo in our memories.
Beyond his humor, Ernie was a hard-working, kind, and caring man. His gentle spirit and caring nature extended to everyone he met, and he was always ready to lend a hand, a word of encouragement, or a listening ear. He worked at the Sudbury Jail for many years and later retired from the North Bay jail. He was also a skilled carpenter and built his own house in Lavigne. His retirement years were spent doing carpentry on Manitoulin Island, and he eventually settled back in Sturgeon Falls.
Ernie will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and kindness that will live on in our hearts forever.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements in care of Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home and Crystal Crematorium, Sturgeon Falls. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home.
