Muriel Joyce Lapp

January 12, 1931 – April 19, 2025

Joyce Lapp passed away on Saturday, April 19th, 2025. Muriel Joyce Lapp (nee Carr) passed peacefully in her 94th year at Lakeview Manor in Beaverton.

Joyce was a loving wife to the late George Robert (Bobby) Lapp and devoted mother to the late Robert (Ricky) Lapp (Mary), and the late Sharon Lapp-Bound. Dear sister to the late Lois Lewis (the late Gord) and the late Diane Winnatoy (Dave). Joyce was a devoted grandmother to Jody (Jacquelyn), Dennis, and Jason (Brittany), and a proud great-grandmother to Katelyn, Gavin, Rylee, and Cameron. She will also be dearly missed by her nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.

If you had the pleasure of knowing Joyce, you knew the positive and active role she played in the day-to-day life of her cherished little community of Cedar Grove, Markham.

As a member of the Cedar Grove Community Club, Joyce was integral to organizing activities such as euchre nights at the schoolhouse, Apple Butter Festivals at Woodland Park, and Friday night baseball games. Her classic quips and quick wit—“REALLY?”—were well-loved.

She brought warmth to Cedarena as the iconic “greeter at the ticket wicket” and snack booth operator, and played a vital role at the Markham Fair, from homecraft to heavy horse events. Her prize-winning baked goods were the stuff of legend.

Joyce was also deeply involved in Zion (Heritage) United Church. Her hospitality shone during strawberry socials, Lion’s dinners, bake sales, and the beloved Mistletoe Tea Room.

Family and community were everything to Joyce. She was a social butterfly who thrived while helping others. In her honour, lend a hand, love deeply, laugh always, and keep cheering for her beloved Maple Leafs.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lakeview Manor for their loving care and dedication.

Joyce will be laid to rest with her loving husband Bobby at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Cemetery in Markham. A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2025. Details to follow.
