BACKA, Leevi Benjamin – Passed peacefully at Lakefield Extendicare, with his family at his side, on Friday July 14, 2017. Leevi of Peterborough, formerly of Rolphton and Fitzroy Harbour, ON, in his 87th year.
Beloved husband of the late Morna (nee Ross) for 50 years.
Loving father of Brenda Walden (Randy), Kerry Backa, Brian Backa (Melva), Kevin Backa (Michele) and Geoff Backa. Dear grandpa of Mason, Rachel (Max), Sarah, Erin, Alex, Lauren, and Trevor. Great grandpa of Kaleb and Carly.
Brother of Sulo Backa (late Dorothea), Eva Strike (late Jack) and the late Olavi (surviving Hilkka) and the late Mauno (surviving Elsie). Leevi will be remembered by many other relatives and friends.
Retired from Ontario Hydro after 38 years of dedicated employment. Leevi was proud of his work at Des Joachims Dam and being an Electrical Inspector in Peterborough. Leevi loved camping at Sandbanks Provincial Park. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, skiing and blue berry picking.
A private memorial service was held at the Ashburnham funeral home, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough.
